Eligibility: Open to Women Candidates Only (Dalit, Adivasi, OBC, and minority candidates are strongly encouraged to apply)

Role Overview

Ground Zero is seeking an enthusiastic, committed development professional to lead field programs, strengthen women’s collective voices, and coordinate the Women Workers & Family Empowerment Program.

This role is designed for a professional who combines a deep commitment to women’s rights with grassroots implementation expertise, data literacy, and compelling analytical writing skills. The ideal candidate will enjoy sustained community engagement and possess the ability to turn field-level realities into clear analysis, evidence-based program decisions, and persuasive reports.

About the Program

The Women Workers & Family Empowerment Program works alongside migrant workers and laboring communities to build secure, dignified lives. Focusing on migration-affected areas in South Rajasthan, the program supports women whose paid, unpaid, and informal labor often goes unrecognized.

Through a network of over 16,000 women organized into Ujala collectives (Ujala Samoohs) and federations, the initiative strengthens women’s access to social protection, employment entitlements, pensions, public distribution/ration systems, and active participation in local governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program Implementation & Execution: Translate overarching program goals into actionable workplans, coordinate field-based activities, track operational progress, and resolve implementation gaps in close collaboration with field teams and local communities.
  • Women’s Collectives & Leadership Building: Strengthen Ujala Samoohs and federations, foster women’s leadership, and enable collective responses to systemic labor, gender, and entitlement challenges.
  • Writing & Knowledge Development: Produce clear, analytical reports, case studies, learning notes, proposals, program briefs, and communication materials rooted in verified field evidence and women’s lived perspectives.
  • Data Management & Program Learning: Maintain accurate, reliable program records; review data completeness; analyze participation and outcome metrics; and develop simple dashboards or summaries to continuously inform and improve program delivery.
  • Research & Documentation: Conduct focused field inquiries, qualitative interviews, and focus group discussions. Synthesize research findings into practical recommendations while ensuring informed consent, confidentiality, and respectful community representation.
  • Team Development & Partnerships: Support, mentor, and build capacity for field teams through regular reviews and training sessions. Coordinate with partner organizations, institutional stakeholders, and civil society networks to advance program priorities.

Qualifications & Essential Requirements

  • Education: Postgraduate degree in Social Work (MSW), Development Studies, Gender Studies, Sociology, Labour Studies, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
  • Grassroots Experience: 3–4 years of relevant field-based experience, preferably working with women’s or adolescent girls’ collectives, alongside proven program planning and implementation capability.
  • Domain Depth & Feminist Lens: Strong understanding of gender dynamics, informal labor, migration, and the structural challenges facing marginalized women, with the ability to apply a feminist lens to daily program operations.
  • Writing & Communication: Exceptional analytical writing skills in Hindi with the ability to synthesize evidence, articulate complex field insights, and draft structured reports. Good working knowledge and communication ability in English are desirable.
  • Technical & Analytical Proficiency: Practical proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, AI tools, and basic design tools. Must demonstrate the ability to interpret data, identify errors, and translate figures into meaningful program insights.
  • Coordination & Facilitation: Strong facilitation, organization, and follow-through capabilities, with equal comfort working independently and collaboratively alongside grassroots teams.
  • Location & Commitment: Willingness to be based in the Udaipur / Salumbar area, travel extensively to field sites, and build long-term, sustained working relationships with local communities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

You are curious, organized, and comfortable moving seamlessly between community meetings, spreadsheets, and analytical writing. You listen attentively, question assumptions, and deeply value both women's lived experiences and rigorous field evidence. You are looking for a meaningful, long-term career opportunity in community-centered program leadership.
