About the role:The Divisional Project Manager will lead our engagement across a designated division (a cluster of 6–9 districts) in Madhya Pradesh to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) outcomes. This role serves as the primary link between state priorities and district implementation, working directly through government systems and leading a team of district-based professionals to drive sustained improvements in educational outcomes.Operating at the divisional level, the Project Manager will partner with divisional and district leadership, support the development of a high-performing field team, and help build a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement across the state education system.
- Portfolio Management: Responsible for a cluster of 6–9 districts within an assigned division.
- People Leadership: Directly manages and mentors a team of district-based Education Professionals embedded within those districts.
- Core Focus: Balances government partnership, people leadership, and program execution while ensuring strict alignment between policy intent and on-ground implementation.
Key Areas of Responsibility
1. Outcome Delivery
- Drive clear progress toward foundational literacy and numeracy goals across the division.
- Enable districts to improve overall performance and strengthen on-ground implementation quality.
2. Salience & Relationship Building
- Build and sustain high visibility for foundational learning priorities among divisional and district government leadership.
- Foster a deep sense of ownership, accountability, and collective action toward improving learning outcomes through strong, trust-based government partnerships.
3. Team Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of district-based Education Professionals.
- Create a culture of high performance, continuous learning, and collaboration while supporting team members as they navigate complex administrative environments.
4. Systems Improvement & Problem Solving
- Identify systemic bottlenecks affecting district performance and support the development of practical, scalable solutions.
- Leverage data, field insights, and stakeholder feedback to strengthen delivery systems and improve student outcomes.
5. Organizational Contribution
- Contribute actively to program strategy, cross-functional collaboration, and institutional learning.
- Bring raw field perspectives, implementation insights, and emerging ground realities to inform senior leadership decision-making.
Profile Requirements:
- Experience: 4–8 years of professional experience in education, public policy, governance, development, management consulting, or related sectors.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading teams and driving high performance through others.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build immediate credibility and influence across different levels of government administration.
- Program Management: Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder programs or initiatives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Communication: Excellent communication, public facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
- Travel: Openness to extensive travel across the assigned districts within the division.
- Preferred Advantage: Prior experience working directly within or alongside government systems and large-scale social sector programs.
