Language and Learning Foundation is a New Delhi-based non-profit organization with the vision of enhancing equitable student learning, especially language and literacy development, through the professional development of teachers and teacher educators, building/sharing knowledge, and implementing projects in collaboration with state governments. LLF currently works with 7 state governments across the country.
About the programs:
LLF has been working on foundational literacy and numeracy with a focus to transform teaching learning processes and to improve children’s learning outcomes, including ECE. LLF works towards strengthening the ECE program in India, especially Balvatika (age 5-6). LLF aims to develop Balvatika as a comprehensive program following NCF-FS 2022 in the state’s FLN activities to provide opportunities for younger children through a structured and play-based school readiness program. LLF engage with Balvatika at the state level, in places where the Balvatika project is implemented by the states in the primary school (through co-located Anganwadis or Balvatika/Pre-school/Nursery class) as well as support states to integrate Vidya Pravesh programs within Grade 1 Instructional Design. We co-created a comprehensive curriculum & materials for Balvatika with the state government Haryana and UP.
Position Summary
The Program manager will oversee the project implementation of the early childhood education program across states and will report to Director, academic.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Lead the management and academic components of ECE projects in Haryana, UP, and Assam.
2. Coordinate with partner organizations and government representatives on ECE planning, implementation, and monitoring.
3. Guide the ECE unit in developing academic designs and materials (workbooks, charts, play materials, teacher guides) per state contexts and NCF-FS guidelines.
4. Collaborate with state and central teams to ensure timely internal and external project deliverables.
5. Build the capacity of LLF’s state teams by conducting workshops/programs on ECE across various projects.
6. Contribute to the development of various collaterals like instructional materials, training modules, classroom observation guidelines, etc.
7. Develop monitoring mechanism for tracking activities and budgets of the assigned projects.
8. Participate and present in district, state, and national-level trainings, workshops, and forums for teachers, academic support cadre, and trainers.
9. Assist in developing monitoring and evaluation tools in consultation with partners, government, and internal teams.
10. Strategize and promote play-based learning, community engagement, and multigrade strategies in ECE and FLN programs.
11. Support in content development for ECE courses and facilitate capacity-building activities for educators and state functionaries.
12. Contribute to the creation of multimedia resources (scripts, videos, podcasts) for course use.
13. Coordinate with consultants and vendors for developing and disseminating learning materials.
14. Lead documentation activities like process documentation, case studies, etc for as and when required.
15. Travel as needed for meetings, workshops, and field visits as a regular part of the work
Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Graduation or equivalent degree required. A Master Degree in Education/Early childhood Education will be an advantage.
5+ years of relevant work experience, with prior experience in designing curriculum, materials and teacher training modules
Strong academic background in Elementary Education, with solid understanding of research-based approaches to ECE and play-based learning
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; strong Hindi language writing skills and fluency in Hindi and English
An ability to be able to set priorities, plan timelines and meet deadlines
Ability to work proactively, with little supervision More specialized computer skills including competency in the use of the internet and the use of Microsoft office (word, excel and PowerPoint), Hindi typing skill is essential.
Has a good team spirit and positive attitude. Enjoys a varied pace of working and copes well under pressure.
