Aasraa Trust was established in 2009 to work with society’s most underprivileged and vulnerable children from the streets and slums of Dehradun. Aasraa is not just a charity but a vehicle for empowerment through education, skills training, and nutrition, healthcare and shelter homes. Starting with street level mobilization, Aasraa uses a multi-faced approach that prepares children for mainstream education and transition to higher studies and skills training.

Aasraa is certified by National Institute of Open Schooling and works with the education department of Uttarakhand to improve the quality of education at 9-government school in Dehradun. Aasraa is also implementing a Girl Education Program in four girls Inter Collages in Udham Singh Nagar, Uttarakhand. Aasraa has built shelters for orphaned, abandoned, abused and special needs children.

Aasraa started 14 years ago with 35 children and it’s now supports over 9000 children from the streets and slums across 50 projects in Dehradun district.

Purpose of the Job 

Overseeing organization’s financial resources to ensure its stability and growth. Your responsibilities will include overseeing budgets, analyzing financial data, and providing strategic recommendations that support the Trust’s objectives.

Objective of the role

You will be expected to manage finances efficiently, ensuring proper allocation of resources, and compliance with relevant regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Forecasting the organisation budget, to monitor and track the utilisation of budget time to time.
  2. Transfer the salaries to the account and pay reimbursements timely.

  3. Help and support HR department to devise the policies and procedures regarding employee pay out.
  4. Verify the invoice and receipts for the various payments of vendors.

  5. Maintain Daily Accounting Voucher.

  6. Making Cheque/ Cash Payments.

  7. Issuing Donation Receipts

  8. Maintain Projects wise Daily Accounting in tally.

  9. Verifying Imp. Rest-Bills & employee’s reimbursements.

  10. Prepare TDS & Other Statutory (PF & ESIC, FCRA) Report for Filing monthly & Quarterly Statutory Returns.
  11. Monthly Reconciliation of Accounting records (Bank Statements, Salaries, TDS Etc.)
  12. Prepare Utilizations of Grants.

  13. Prepare TDS & Other Statutory Challans.

  14. Maintain Daily Cash Book.

  15. Conducting internal financial audit.

Education Qualifications

  • Qualified Postgraduate (Finance/ Commerce) degree

Core experience

  • 5 years of relevant, professional experience in finance and accounting system.

Preferable Knowledge/Experience

  • In depth knowledge of financial and accounting systems, financial reporting as per local legal compliances
  • Knowledge of legal landscape applicable to NGOs.

Competencies Required

  • Behavioral competencies: Ability to be diplomatic and solutions-oriented under stress; demonstrate impeccable communication skills (written/verbal) and interpersonal skills (listening/empathy)
