About the Project:
Org is providing technical assistance to the Tripura State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) for the professional development of in-service teachers and support within 12 designated development blocks in Tripura, as part of the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery (TRESP) initiative.
Job Description / Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Subject Specialist(s) will be responsible for developing methodologies, frameworks, and tools tailored to specific subject needs, while adhering to established timelines.
Key Deliverables:
(A) Develop Diagnostic and Self-Assessment Tools:
(1) Design and create comprehensive methodologies, frameworks, and tools for conducting diagnostic and self-assessments that address the unique learning needs of students.
(2) Ensure these methodologies and tools consider the knowledge and requirements of teachers, enabling them to effectively assess and support their students' subject-specific needs.
(B) Conduct Capacity Reviews of SCERT and DIETs in Specific Subjects:
(1) Contribute to the development of methodologies, frameworks, tools, and timelines for conducting thorough capacity reviews of the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) and District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) in particular subject areas.
(2) Ensure the review process thoroughly evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of SCERT and DIETs, providing data for informed decision-making and improvements in subject-specific education.
(C) Develop Learning Resources for Stakeholders:
(1) Create engaging and effective learning materials for SCERT and DIET faculty, teachers, and students in specific subjects.
(2) Ensure these resources are comprehensive, current, and accessible, offering valuable support for curriculum implementation and enhancing subject-specific knowledge and skills.
(D) Conduct Training and Orientation Sessions:
(1) Organize orientation and capacity-building sessions for SCERT, DIET, State Resource Group (SRG) members, and teachers, focusing on specific subjects.
(2) Provide thorough training and guidance to improve their understanding and proficiency in subject-specific teaching methods, content knowledge, and instructional strategies, promoting effective teaching and learning.
(E) Quality Assurance Visits:
(1) Conduct quality assurance visits to evaluate the implementation and effectiveness of subject-specific educational projects and interventions.
(2) Assess adherence to standards and guidelines, provide constructive feedback, and identify areas for improvement to enhance the overall quality of education in specific subjects.
Qualifications, Experience, and Competencies:
Qualifications and Experience:
(1) A postgraduate degree in a relevant subject (Mathematics, Science, Social Science, or English; preference may be given to candidates with backgrounds in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Sociology, Political Science, and/or Economics).
(2) A minimum of two years of experience in developing structured lesson plans for grades 6 through 12 in relevant subjects.
Skills and Competencies:
(1) Preference will be given to candidates proficient in Bangla, Kokbarok, or other local dialects of Tripura.
(2) Strong subject matter expertise with a demonstrated in-depth understanding of key concepts, principles, and theories.
(3) Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication, and collaboration skills.
(4) Familiarity with educational programs, initiatives, and best practices within the Indian education sector.
(5) Ability to conduct research and analyze data to stay updated on the latest developments in their field.
(6) Ability to develop effective teaching materials and methods.
(7) Adaptability to new technologies and trends in education.
Duration of Contract:
The initial contract for the Subject Specialist(s) will be for 11 months, including a three-month probationary period. Upon successful completion of the probation, the contract will continue for the remaining 11 months and may be renewed for another 11 months based on satisfactory performance evaluations and mutual agreement.
