Partnerships Lead - Building a Powerful Support System
What this role is all about:
Imagine building a strong network, like a well-connected city, where different organizations come together to help micro-entrepreneurs, informal workers, and job seekers (we call them 'participants') thrive. This role is at the heart of making that happen. You'll be part of a new team focused on growing this network by creating valuable partnerships with all sorts of organizations.
Think of it this way: For our network to succeed, every partner needs to see a clear benefit in joining us. Your main job is to figure out what those benefits are and build strong, lasting relationships.
Who will you be working with?
You'll connect with a wide range of important players:
- Businesses: Companies that offer products or services our participants need, or those who have these participants as workers or in their supply chains.
- Government: Organizations that can provide access to important resources and programs for our participants.
- Financial Institutions: Banks and other financial groups that can offer affordable loans, savings options, and investment opportunities.
- Social Sector Organizations: Groups already working on the ground to support our participants directly.
- Open Networks: Platforms like ONDC that offer various livelihood services (like helping people sell their products, get loans, or learn new skills) and have many participants.
- Universities: Academic partners who can help us learn and improve through research.
- Funders: Organizations that provide the financial support to keep our network running and growing.
While a separate team will focus on fundraising, your role is crucial in showing all other potential partners why joining our network is a smart move for them.
Why this role might be for you:
If you enjoy tackling complex problems, are good at taking initiative, and are excited about working in a fast-paced environment where you'll constantly learn and face new challenges, this could be a great fit!
What you'll actually do:
- Create Win-Win Scenarios: For each type of partner, you'll figure out the unique benefits of joining our network. For example, you might show financial institutions how partnering with us can lower their risk when lending to participants because we offer support and have data on their success.
- Bring Existing Partners into the Network: You'll work with our current partners to transition them into this new network model.
- Find New Allies: You'll identify and build relationships with new organizations that can offer services to our participants or help us reach more people.
- Make the Numbers Work: You'll develop financial plans to reduce costs and find new ways to generate income so the network can thrive long-term.
- Help Shape the Future: You'll support leadership in developing the network's strategy, coming up with innovative ideas, and planning for growth.
- Collaborate Across Teams: You'll work with different internal teams to create partnership and implementation plans for the network.
- Get the Word Out: You'll attend events, use your existing connections, and build new ones to increase the network's visibility among potential partners.
- Create Powerful Tools: You'll help the communications team develop materials like proposals, brochures, data updates, presentations, newsletters, and guides to showcase the network to external stakeholders.
- Build Strong Relationships: You'll work closely with the CEO, core team, corporate social responsibility clients, and potential donors to build long-term strategic partnerships and secure ongoing funding.
- Grow Our People: You'll foster a culture of coaching and mentorship to help team members develop their skills.
What you need to bring to the table:
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in a strategy role at a major consulting firm or investment organization.
- Partnership Skills: A proven track record of successfully building partnerships with a variety of different organizations.
- Education: An MBA or a Master's degree in Public Administration/Policy from a well-regarded university.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent business writing skills in English.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to connect with people, manage client relationships, and deliver presentations.
- Passion for Impact: A strong interest in working in the social impact sector (previous experience is a plus, but not required).
- Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing situations and meet deadlines.
- Going the Extra Mile: Willingness to contribute beyond the specific responsibilities of the role.
