Context

Frontier Health Markets (FHM) Engage is a global cooperative agreement designed to provide technical assistance (TA) supporting local actors to improve the ability of health markets to meet supply-side capacity gaps and consumer preferences and contribute to equitable provision of and access to high-quality family planning (FP) and other health services and products in mixed health systems.

FHM Engage is working with Collective Good Foundation (CGF, an implementation arm of Samhita) as sub-recipient, to forge a Women’s Health and Livelihood Alliance (WOHLA) in India made up of corporations, industrial association and development partners committed to strengthening stewardship efforts to improve access, ensuring the quality and affordability of healthcare products and services including sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care, ensuring equity and economic security for women, mobilizing private sector resources for targeted initiatives for women’s health and livelihood, and facilitating enabling ecosystems for greater collaboration between the private sector and government which can build women’s agency to make decisions related to healthy timing and spacing of pregnancies (HTSP).

In addition to creating the Alliance, CGF will serve as the secretariat for the Alliance and program manager for the activities and interventions to perform key market facilitation roles and support high-impact partnerships to increase access to Women’s Health services and products. CGF is recruiting and hiring sufficient number of staff with the appropriate skills mix and expertise for organizing and carrying multiple activities simultaneously; to develop workplans and budgets, and monitoring workplan activities against budgets, and ensuring consistent and regular communication across alliance members.

Role Overview

The Market Development Specialist will spearhead WOHLA’s efforts in designing, implementing, and scaling innovative and cost-effective products that drive the use of high-quality family planning (FP) services, expand contraceptive options, and address gender norms through our projects. This role focuses on developing strategies for product commercialization, building partnerships, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements to sustainably impact the FP and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Product Development and Innovation

  • Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of innovative FP and SRH products that meet underserved needs, expand contraceptive choices, and integrate gender-responsive approaches across WOHLA’s initiatives.
  • Develop a comprehensive roadmap for product development, aligning with the unmet needs of target demographics and ensuring responsiveness to emerging trends in family planning and SRH.

Commercialization and Market Strategy

  • Develop and implement a strategic roadmap for the commercialization of FP and SRH products, aligning with market demands, competitive landscape, and WOHLA’s long-term goals.
  • Ensure all product strategies and launch plans adhere to regulatory requirements, addressing market readiness and sustainability in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Partnerships and Ecosystem Development

  • Identify, evaluate, and establish strategic partnerships to enhance product visibility and distribution, ensuring partners align with WOHLA’s mission and quality standards.
  • Engage with diverse stakeholders including pharmaceutical companies, government agencies, common service centres, NGOs, and distributors to evaluate the viability of products and support sustained distribution and market reach.
  • Conduct risk assessments to understand and mitigate partner-associated risks, optimizing both impact and operational efficiency.

Performance Tracking and Continuous Improvement

  • Design a framework to monitor and evaluate the performance of products and partnerships post-launch, incorporating real-time data and feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Analyse feedback loops and leverage data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve product offerings to meet evolving market and user needs.

Regulatory and Market Compliance

  • Stay informed about and interpret relevant policies, regulations, and compliance standards that impact the FP and SRH sector, ensuring WOHLA’s products and strategies align with current laws and best practices.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies, staying abreast of policy changes that may influence market entry, distribution, or product lifecycle.

Education Qualification/Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare management, business administration, marketing and sales or related field. Master’s in healthcare or MBA preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in healthcare preferably in sales, marketing, or commercial roles
  • Ability to function with a high degree of independence and latitude with respect to policies, programs and issues related to his/her area of expertise.
  • Familiarity with USG FP/RH compliance and regulations, and gender policy.

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities for stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions

  • Ability to analyse market trends and customer needs in the sector

  • Knowledge of sales strategies, marketing campaigns, and product positions in health care
