StoryWeaver hosts thousands of stories in multiple languages, enabling educators, parents, and children to access a vast repository of literature for free. This platform also empowers users to contribute their own stories and translations, fostering a global community of storytellers and readers.

To build a library movement in India, Pratham Books hosts the "Donate-a-Book" crowdfunding initiative, which allows individuals and organizations to contribute towards distributing books to underserved communities. This initiative helps bridge the gap between donors and beneficiaries, ensuring that more children can develop a love for reading.

We are looking for a Regional Manager, Distribution

As the Regional Manager - Distribution, you will be responsible for ensuring that our books are being distributed through all channels including institutions, retail, government, schools, fundraising grants, and campaigns via Donate-a-Book across the West and South regions. The role will report into Associate Director - Distribution & Operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the achievement of annual dissemination targets and successfully implement regional strategies.

  • Evaluate and evolve appropriate new dissemination opportunities and ensure their smooth implementation to increase dissemination volumes across West and South regions.

  • Ensure a strong customer service program to address and resolve customer queries.

  • Continue to build and sustain partnerships with institutions, corporates, NGOs, and schools.

  • Ensure timely collections from book dissemination projects for better and organized cash flows for the organization, and work closely with the finance team on monitoring the same.

  • Maintain strong relationships and work closely with all stakeholders, including the government's educational projects and programs.

  • Make recommendations on product enhancements for improved distribution potential through the support of the marketing and communications division.

  • Liaise with relevant teams, such as content for popular and high-quality curated booklists

  • Work with Marketing team and come up with required promotional and marketing programs

  • Liaise with Bangalore office, Delhi office for payments, invoices, stock, etc

  • Conduct events to create awareness for PB products. through events like story telling sessions, about StoryWeaver through workshops, organising book fairs, etc

  • Perform and handle infra structural/operational tasks like raising invoices, quotations, follow ups for payments, etc.

  • Deciding quantity of PB books to be distributed across West and South regions in a month/quarter/half year/year

  • Working with geographically distributed teams. Frequent and extensive travel involved (monthly/quarterly/half yearly)

  • Independently working with frequent co-ordination with CEO and Bangalore office

Required skills

  • Job Knowledge: 5-8 years of experience in publishing/books distribution house, preferably in social sector, adequate knowledge about children’s books and its market outreach. Inter-personal skills like understanding the customer's needs, presenting the product, negotiation and closure. Organization skills like maintaining accurate records for each account and preparing relevant reports.
  • Customer Focus - Building customer confidence, commitment to customer satisfaction by addressing their concerns, solving their problems. Setting achievable customer expectations and ensuring commitments are met on time. Soliciting ideas and opinions from the customers
  • Planning skills Prepare a plan and set achievable targets. Communicate timelines and the plan clearly with stakeholders and internal teams. Set a follow up process to make it possible working with multiple teams and ensuring on time delivery of the books. Uses judgement to make changes to the set plan to accommodate unforeseen events.
  • Results & Accountability - Takes ownership of a task or project and produces results according to expectations. Requests clarification as needed. Provides frequent updates on status of deliverables and priorities. Keeps team members and management apprised. Prioritizes tasks and sets challenging goals. Demonstrates problem-solving skills and critical thinking. Displays a sense of urgency, meeting or exceeding deadlines. Takes projects to completion.
