About the Role:
We are seeking a mission-driven development finance professional to design, strengthen, and scale inclusive financial ecosystems for underserved and Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP) communities in India.
The role requires a blend of financial expertise, systems thinking, and on-ground development experience to create scalable and sustainable solutions that improve access to financial services such as credit, savings, insurance, pensions, and digital finance—especially for women-led and rural communities.
The candidate will also play a key role in convening and aligning ecosystem stakeholders including financial institutions, government bodies, fintechs, NGOs, and community-based organizations to enable last-mile financial inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Design & Implementation
- Design and implement inclusive finance programs across credit, savings, insurance, pensions, and digital financial services
- Develop scalable delivery models such as BC networks, women-led financial service channels, and livelihood-linked financial products
- Pilot innovative solutions and support their scale-up through evidence-based learning and impact assessment
2. Financial Product & Ecosystem Strengthening
- Co-create customer-centric financial products with banks, NBFCs, MFIs, and fintech partners
- Design capacity-building programs for field teams, community institutions, and last-mile financial agents
- Strengthen business models for sustainable last-mile delivery systems (e.g., BC agents, SHG-linked models, women-led enterprises)
- Integrate financial services with non-financial interventions such as digital literacy, livelihood support, agri-advisory, and market linkages
3. Ecosystem Building & Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify, map, and engage ecosystem stakeholders including financial institutions, government departments, regulators, impact investors, fintechs, SHG federations, and community institutions
- Build and manage multi-stakeholder partnerships to strengthen financial inclusion at scale
- Facilitate convergence between public and private sector programs
- Support technology and API-based integrations with partner systems where relevant
4. Data, Insights & Performance Management
- Analyze financial and operational data to evaluate program effectiveness and identify improvement areas
- Design and maintain dashboards, MIS systems, and impact measurement frameworks
- Generate actionable insights to support strategic decision-making and program optimization
5. Policy & Systems Strengthening
- Engage with government stakeholders to influence financial inclusion policies and schemes
- Support integration with national and state-level programs (e.g., rural livelihood missions and digital finance initiatives)
- Contribute to thought leadership through reports, whitepapers, and ecosystem knowledge products
Key Deliverables:
- Improved access, usage, and quality of financial services for underserved communities
- Scalable and sustainable last-mile financial delivery models
- High-quality strategic reports, policy briefs, and knowledge products
- Actionable ecosystem strategies based on field insights and data analysis
- Strengthened convergence across public, private, and development sector actors
- Identification of emerging opportunities in digital finance, embedded finance, gender-intentional finance, climate finance, MSME finance, and AI-enabled financial services
Ideal Qualifications & Competencies:
- Master's degree in Finance, Development Studies, Economics, Public Policy, Rural Management, or a related field; MBA (Finance/Strategy) or equivalent preferred
- 3–12 years of experience in the development sector, financial inclusion, or ecosystem development roles
- Experience in multi-stakeholder program management and partnership building
- Exposure to government-led programs such as rural livelihood missions and financial inclusion schemes is an advantage
- Experience in digital finance, agri-finance, women-led enterprises, or inclusive livelihood programs is preferred
- Strong understanding of financial products including credit, savings, insurance, pensions, and digital financial services
- Knowledge of rural and BoP ecosystems, SHG networks, and community-based financial institutions
- Financial modeling and business case development capabilities
- Proficiency in Excel, MIS systems, dashboards, and data analysis tools
- Strong stakeholder management and partnership-building skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in dynamic, field-based, and ambiguous environments
Preferred Profile:
- Experience with SHG ecosystems, women-led enterprises, or rural financial inclusion programs
- Exposure to impact investment, banking, consulting, or development organizations
- Familiarity with digital public infrastructure (UPI, Aadhaar, DBT, etc.)
- Experience scaling pilots into large-scale, sustainable programs
