Position Overview:

The State Lead for Meghalaya will be responsible for leading this key initiative in the state. The role requires strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, advocacy, and strong relationship management. You will work closely with the Department of Education and the Office of the Development Commissioner to drive the project's vision, strategy, and implementation. You will also oversee all program operations and manage the state team to ensure alignment with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Government Partnerships and Networks:

  • Develop and manage strategic partnerships with government departments and institutions to create a state-specific strategy for integrating well-being and resilience.

  • Facilitate collaborations with civil society partners, state institutions, and universities to build a network of advocates and support.

  • Lead negotiations and formalize agreements with government and other key stakeholders.

Representation, Communication & Positioning:

  • Represent the organization and strengthen its presence in the state through strategic communication and engagement with government bodies, NGOs, and civil society forums.

  • Advocate for the initiative with state and district policymakers to build ownership and ensure alignment with state goals.

  • Secure necessary permissions and provide timely progress updates to state and district authorities.

  • Document all stakeholder interactions and agreements to maintain comprehensive records.

Program Management & Implementation:

  • Lead the strategic planning and execution of the action plan for the state.

  • Develop detailed implementation plans for all projects and ensure goals are achieved on time.

  • Supervise and mentor the state team, conducting field visits to assess the quality and impact of implementation.

  • Oversee Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) activities and track program performance.

  • Prepare and submit accurate reports to both internal and external stakeholders, including donors and headquarters.

Human Resources & Organizational Culture:

  • Ensure state-level staff are aligned with the organization's values.

  • Oversee staff recruitment, performance evaluations, and disciplinary processes.

  • Foster a supportive and inclusive work culture within the state team.

Finance & Administration:

  • Manage state budgets and financial planning to ensure cost-effectiveness.

  • Ensure compliance with all financial policies, donor requirements, and internal accountability standards.

Candidate Qualifications & Skills:

Education: Master's degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Sociology, Psychology, Public Health, or a related field.

Experience: At least 15 years of relevant experience, with a proven track record of leading state-level programs in collaboration with the government.

Preferred Experience: Experience leading collaborative programs within Meghalaya and familiarity with state-level education policies and frameworks related to mental health and life skills is preferred.

Skills: Strong leadership, problem-solving, decision-making, and stakeholder management abilities. Excellent communication, reporting, and interpersonal skills are also essential. The candidate must be able to work independently in a dynamic environment.
