About the Role:
We are looking for a seasoned finance professional to lead financial management, compliance, donor reporting, and project finance operations within a growing NGO. The role requires a strong understanding of fund utilization, statutory compliance, budgeting, financial reporting, and project-based financial management.
The Finance Manager will work closely with leadership, program teams, donors, auditors, and external stakeholders to ensure robust financial governance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Management & Reporting-
- Manage the organization's accounting and financial management systems.
- Prepare and monitor annual budgets, project budgets, cash flow forecasts, and financial projections.
- Develop and maintain project-wise financial dashboards for budget tracking and expense monitoring.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual Budget vs. Actuals, MIS, and financial performance reports for leadership review.
- Monitor fund utilization across projects and provide variance analysis with actionable recommendations.
- Ensure accurate bookkeeping, ledger reconciliation, and financial record maintenance.
2. Donor & Grant Management-
- Prepare and submit donor financial reports in prescribed formats.
- Track grant utilization and ensure adherence to donor guidelines and budget allocations.
- Coordinate grant requests, fund releases, and utilization reporting.
- Support donor audits and financial reviews by maintaining complete and accurate documentation.
3. Compliance & Audit-
- Ensure timely compliance with all statutory requirements and applicable regulations.
- Manage PF, TDS, Income Tax, GST (where applicable), payroll-related compliances, and other statutory filings.
- Coordinate internal, statutory, and donor audits and ensure timely closure of audit observations.
- Maintain compliance documentation and strengthen internal financial controls.
4. Operations & Financial Controls-
- Review and verify staff reimbursements, vendor bills, invoices, contracts, and payment requests.
- Ensure proper approval processes and adherence to financial policies and SOPs.
- Oversee payroll processing and related reconciliations.
- Strengthen financial systems, controls, and process efficiencies.
5. Team Management & Project Support-
- Supervise and mentor Junior Finance Associates.
- Provide financial guidance and support to program and project teams.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align financial planning with organizational and project objectives.
- Support organizational decision-making through financial analysis and strategic insights.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Graduation in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- CA Inter, MBA Finance, M.Com, or equivalent qualification preferred.
- 6–8 years of relevant experience, with at least 4–5 years in the NGO/development sector.
- Prior experience managing donor-funded projects and grant reporting.
- Exposure to fund utilization reporting, statutory compliance, payroll, and audit management.
- Demonstrated managerial experience, including team supervision and stakeholder management.
- Strong project management and financial planning capabilities.
- Proficiency in Tally, MS Excel, and financial reporting tools.
- Strong communication skills in English and Hindi.
- Willingness to travel as required.
