About the role:
The Subject Specialist will strengthen subject-specific teaching and learning by designing diagnostic assessment frameworks, developing high-quality learning resources, and supporting institutional capacity building. The role will work closely with the Programme Manager – Classroom Resources and contribute towards improving educational outcomes through curriculum-aligned resources, professional development, and continuous academic review.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop Methodology, Framework, and Tools for Diagnostic Assessment and Self-Assessment

  • Design and create comprehensive methodologies, frameworks, and tools for conducting diagnostic and self-assessments for students in Social Sciences.
  • Ensure that the methodology and tools support teachers in evaluating and addressing subject-specific learning needs effectively.

2. Conduct Capacity Review of SCERT and DIETs

  • Support the development of methodologies, frameworks, tools, and timelines for conducting capacity reviews of SCERT and DIETs across subjects.
  • Ensure the review process evaluates institutional strengths and gaps to support informed improvements in subject-specific education.

3. Develop Learning Resources for SCERT, DIET Faculty, Teachers, and Students

    • Create engaging learning resources including lesson plans, handbooks, student workbooks, and teaching-learning materials.
    • Ensure resources are aligned with NCERT/state curriculum, updated, comprehensive, and accessible.

    4. Conduct Orientation and Capacity Building Sessions

    • Organise orientation and capacity-building sessions for SCERT, DIET, State Resource Group (SRG) members, master trainers, and teachers.
    • Facilitate training focused on pedagogy, instructional strategies, and subject content proficiency.

    5. Quality Assurance (QA) Visits

    • Conduct QA visits to assess the implementation and effectiveness of educational initiatives.
    • Provide constructive feedback and identify improvement areas to enhance programme quality.

    Essential Requirements

      • Strong belief in the power of quality education to improve social and economic outcomes for children.
      • Deep understanding of the education sector.
      • Postgraduate degree in a relevant Social Science field such as MSW, Sociology, Political Science, Economics, Education, Public Policy, Anthropology, Development Studies, Rural Development, or related disciplines.
      • Minimum 2 years of experience in creating structured lesson plans in Social Sciences for Grades 6–12.
      • Preference for candidates proficient in Bangla, Kokborok, or other dialects of Tripura.
      • Strong command over the subject with deep conceptual understanding.
      • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
      • Familiarity with educational programmes and best practices in Social Science education in India.
      • Ability to conduct research and analyse educational data and trends.
      • Ability to develop effective instructional materials and learner-centric approaches.
      • Adaptability towards evolving educational technologies and practices.
