Position Overview
The Senior Director of Business Insights, Market Research & Competitive Intelligence will be responsible for building and owning the company's insights capability to support launch readiness and long-term commercial strategy. This is a hands-on role in a lean organization—there is no large team or established infrastructure to inherit.
This individual will design and execute primary market research, build competitive intelligence processes, and develop a deep understanding of market dynamics, customer behavior, and competitive positioning. The role requires both strategic thinking and a willingness to operate at a detailed, executional level.
The Senior Director will serve as the voice of the market across the organization, translating complex and often ambiguous information into clear, actionable recommendations that inform key commercial decisions. The Senior Director of Business Insights and Competitive Intelligence reports to the Vice President of Commercial Excellence and Strategic Analytics.
Key Responsibilities
Market Research & Customer Insights (~50% of time)
- Design and execute primary market research across HCP, patient, and payer audiences, including qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
- Develop segmentation, targeting, and positioning insights to support brand strategy and launch planning.
- Identify key drivers of adoption, barriers to treatment, and unmet patient needs.
- Translate research findings into clear, actionable implications for cross-functional teams.
- Build scalable processes to ensure insights are consistently captured, shared, and utilized.
Competitive Intelligence & Market Monitoring (~30% of time)
- Build and maintain a comprehensive competitive intelligence capability from the ground up.
- Monitor competitor pipelines, clinical data releases, regulatory milestones, and commercial strategies.
- Synthesize competitive developments into clear implications for Veradermics' strategy.
- Lead development of competitive scenarios and what if analyses to inform strategic planning.
- Provide regular competitive updates to Commercial Leadership and the Executive Team.
Market Landscape & Opportunity Assessment (~10% of time)
- Develop market sizing models, patient flow analyses, and treatment paradigm assessments.
- Evaluate market evolution and future competitive dynamics.
- Support development and refinement of assumptions used in forecasting and launch planning.
Cross-Functional Strategic Support (~10% of time)
- Partner closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Commercial Leadership.
- Support brand planning and commercialization strategy with data-driven insights.
- Contribute to business development assessments through market and competitive analysis.
- Ensure alignment between insights, forecasting assumptions, and commercial strategy.
Candidate Profile | Who You Are
- Education: Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree (MBA, MPH, PhD) preferred.
- Experience: 10–15+ years of experience in pharma/biotech market research, insights, or competitive intelligence.
- Launch Experience: Experience supporting pre-launch or launch-stage assets strongly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Expertise in primary market research design, secondary data interpretation, and competitive intelligence frameworks.
- Competencies: Strong strategic thinker with the ability to execute independently; excellent communication skills; ability to translate ambiguity into actionable direction.
