Position Overview

The Accounting Manager will be a hands-on owner of core accounting activities, responsible for driving accurate, timely financial close processes while helping to build scalable accounting practices. This role reports to the Controller, and will partner with the CFO, Director of FP&A, and cross-functional teams to ensure accounting operations keep pace with the company's growth.

This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-moving environment, enjoys owning the details while keeping the full picture in mind, and is comfortable building process where needed.

Responsibilities:

Core Accounting & Close

  • Own and execute key aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close
  • Prepare and review journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations
  • Ensure accurate accounting in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Understand the full financial picture and proactively identify and resolve issues
  • Support accounting for R&D and clinical trial activities, including vendor and CRO spend
  • Partner cross-functionally to ensure timely and accurate expense recognition

Process & Controls

  • Serve as a lead preparer with strong technical understanding of accounting entries and reconciliations
  • Help design, document, and improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Partner with the Controller to support audit readiness and compliance initiatives

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Build strong working relationships with FP&A, Clinical Operations, Legal, and other teams
  • Communicate accounting requirements clearly and effectively to non-finance stakeholders
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes through close coordination with FP&A

Audit & External Support

  • Support external audits and reviews, including preparation of schedules and documentation
  • Manage and oversee processes involving external vendors and service providers


Candidate Profile | Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (CPA preferred)
  • 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in biotech, life sciences, or an R&D-focused environment
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with financial close processes and audits/external reporting
  • Exposure to R&D and clinical trial accounting strongly preferred
  • Experience working with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar)
