Position Overview

The Director of Supply Chain is responsible for building, implementing, and leading Veradermics' commercial supply chain in preparation for the launch of the Company's first commercial pharmaceutical product. This role will establish the systems, processes, and operating model required to support commercial readiness and long-term growth.

The Director will oversee all aspects of the commercial supply chain from raw material sourcing through receipt at the third-party logistics (3PL) provider, including material planning, supply planning, demand forecast translation, purchasing, production scheduling, inventory planning, and product shipment. Working closely with Commercial and Finance, this individual will translate commercial demand forecasts into executable manufacturing and supply plans while ensuring uninterrupted product supply.

Reporting to the VP of Development & Scientific Operations, the Director will partner closely with colleagues across Commercial, Finance, Manufacturing, Quality, Regulatory, Legal, and external manufacturing and supply partners to establish clear operating processes, cross-functional governance, and scalable supply chain capabilities. As Veradermics' first senior Supply Chain leader, this individual will play a key role in shaping the future structure, processes, and growth of the Supply Chain organization. Senior supply chain consultants will be available to provide guidance and support during the build-out of the function.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Supply Chain Strategy & Function Development

  • Build and establish Veradermics' commercial Supply Chain function in preparation for the Company's first commercial product launch.
  • Develop the long-term operating model for Supply Chain, including organizational structure, hiring roadmap, systems, and processes required to support commercial growth.
  • Define roles, responsibilities, and decision-making frameworks across Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance, Manufacturing, Quality, and external partners, establishing clear governance and operating cadence.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement scalable supply planning tools, systems, and processes to support launch readiness and future commercialization.
  • Prepare and present supply chain strategy, performance metrics, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership.

Supply Planning & Commercial Readiness

  • Partner closely with Commercial and Finance to translate commercial demand forecasts into manufacturing, procurement, inventory, and supply plans.
  • Develop and maintain integrated supply plans that support launch readiness while balancing inventory, manufacturing capacity, and commercial demand.
  • Lead scenario planning to evaluate potential demand fluctuations, geographic expansion, manufacturing constraints, and inventory strategies.
  • Identify supply chain risks and proactively develop mitigation plans to ensure uninterrupted product supply.

External Manufacturing & Supplier Management

  • Serve as the primary Supply Chain lead for external manufacturing and supply partners, including CDMOs, raw material suppliers, packaging vendors, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Coordinate production scheduling, material planning, purchasing activities, packaging campaigns, and product shipment through third-party logistics.
  • Monitor supplier performance, manufacturing capacity, raw material availability, and inventory levels, implementing contingency plans where necessary.
  • Partner with Procurement and Legal to support supplier selection, contract strategy, and ongoing vendor management.

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Collaborate closely with Quality to ensure timely material disposition, product release, and supply continuity within GMP requirements.
  • Monitor component recalls, material issues, and supply disruptions, coordinating cross-functional response plans as needed.
  • Develop and manage the Supply Chain operating budget, including commercial supply expenditures, external partners, contractors, systems, and departmental expenses.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across planning, inventory management, logistics, supplier performance, and operational execution, leveraging emerging technologies where appropriate.

Candidate Profile | Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including leadership within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or other highly regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated success building or significantly scaling commercial supply chain capabilities, preferably within an emerging biotechnology company preparing for or supporting commercialization.
  • Deep expertise across supply planning, demand planning, procurement, inventory management, external manufacturing, logistics, and supplier management.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Commercial, Finance, Manufacturing/Technical Operations, Quality, and external supply partners to develop integrated supply plans.
  • Proven ability to build processes, implement systems, and establish scalable operating models in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • APICS certification required; Lean and/or Six Sigma certification strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on, collaborative leader with exceptional analytical skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to influence across functions while operating in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Curious, continuous learner with an interest in evaluating emerging technologies, including AI-enabled planning and analytics, to improve supply chain performance.

Location and Travel

  • Location: Hybrid in either New Haven, CT, Buffalo, NY or Yardley, PA
  • Travel: ~10–20% (internal meetings, supplier and manufacturing site visits)
