Position Overview
The Training Manager is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive training program that supports both GxP-regulated and non-GxP functions across the organization. This role ensures employees are qualified, compliant, and equipped with the knowledge and skills required to perform their roles in accordance with FDA, EMA, ICH, and internal Quality System requirements. The Training Manager oversees the Learning Management System (LMS), training curricula, onboarding programs, and continuous learning initiatives to support operational excellence and inspection readiness.
Responsibilities:
GxP Training Program Management
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the GxP training program aligned with GMP, GLP, GCP, and ICH Q10 expectations.
- Ensure timely assignment and completion of training for SOPs, policies, quality systems, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage training curricula for GMP-impacting roles, including Manufacturing, QC, QA, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Validation.
- Oversee training related to Data Integrity (ALCOA+), GDP, Deviation/CAPA processes, Change Control, and Batch Record Review.
- Support audit and inspection readiness by providing training records, curricula, and compliance metrics.
- Conduct periodic effectiveness checks and training gap assessments.
Non-GxP Training Program Oversight
- Develop and manage training programs for HR, IT, Finance, Commercial, and other non-regulated functions.
- Partner with functional leaders to identify training needs and build role-specific learning paths.
- Implement soft-skills, leadership development, and professional development programs.
- Support corporate initiatives such as Code of Conduct, Ethics, Diversity & Inclusion, and Workplace Safety.
Learning Management System (LMS) Ownership
- Serve as system owner or administrator for the LMS.
- Maintain training matrices, user roles, curricula, and system workflows.
- Generate training metrics, dashboards, and compliance reports for leadership and Quality.
Onboarding & Qualification
- Lead the new-hire onboarding training program for both GxP and non-GxP roles.
- Ensure new employees receive required foundational training (GxP, EHS, Code of Conduct, job-specific SOPs).
- Partner with managers to define job-specific qualification plans and OJT requirements.
- Oversee trainer qualification and maintain a roster of qualified trainers.
Continuous Improvement & Training Strategy
- Conduct training needs assessments and develop annual training plans.
- Implement modern learning approaches (microlearning, blended learning, eLearning modules).
- Evaluate training effectiveness using metrics, feedback, and performance indicators.
- Drive continuous improvement in training processes, documentation, and systems.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure training documentation meets regulatory and internal quality standards.
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready training records.
- Support internal and external audits by providing training evidence and participating in interviews.
- Ensure training-related SOPs are current, effective, and aligned with best practices.
Candidate Profile | Who You Are
- Bachelor's Degree required
- 5-8+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device training or Quality Systems
- Strong knowledge of GxP regulations, FDA 21 CFR Parts 210/211/820, ICH guidelines, and data integrity principles.
- Experience managing or administering an electronic LMS in a regulated environment, experience with electronic QMS platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to develop training content and deliver effective training sessions; preference for candidates with leadership experience or the ability to manage training specialists or coordinators.
- Instructional design or adult learning certification preferred.
- Experience supporting regulatory inspections (FDA, EMA, MHRA) preferred.
