Intermediate Technical Designer – Retail & Corporate Interiors | Architecture Co

 Job Description:

$90,000 - $120,000 | New York, NY (Hybrid – 4 days in office, 1 remote)

The Opportunity

This is a chance to lead concept-driven projects from initial design through construction completion, working across retail, corporate, and branded environments for a well-renowned mid-sized architecture firm. You'll balance creative concept development with hands-on technical execution, producing drawing sets across all phases and staying involved through construction close-out.

Why You'll Love This Role

You'll work in Revit and AutoCAD at an expert level, producing detailed, retail-specific drawing sets across SD, DD, and CD phases. The firm maintains an approachable, advisory relationship with its clients rather than a rigid corporate structure, and offers a genuine hybrid schedule with solid work/life balance. You'll coordinate directly with external consultants and have real input into how projects come together, not just draft to someone else's redlines.

What Your Week Looks Like

Your work spans both the studio and the field. You'll produce and coordinate construction documents for landlord and authority approval, working closely with consultants to keep everything aligned for accurate GC bidding. During active construction, you'll join weekly virtual OAC calls, review shop drawings and submittals, and respond to RFIs. You'll also travel for architectural site surveys and construction site visits, including punch-list walkthroughs at project completion.

What We're Looking For

  • 3-8 years of professional experience, ideally with a retail focus
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • Expert proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD; Bluebeam and Adobe Design experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and industry standards
  • An independent, creative thinker who can manage multiple projects and communicate clearly with clients and consultants
  • Comfortable managing detail-rich work in a deadline-driven environment

Why Candidates Say Yes

  • Ownership of projects from concept through construction, not just documentation
  • A firm known for its advisory, relationship-driven approach with clients
  • Genuine hybrid flexibility with a stable, well-regarded studio
  • Exposure to both retail and corporate/commercial work
