Are you a hands-on manufacturing expert with a passion for process improvement and precision engineering? A U.S.-based manufacturer at the forefront of aerospace, energy, and defense component production is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join their high-performing team in Glendale Heights, IL.
In this key role, youll lead efforts in advanced manufacturing processessuch as multi-axis CNC milling, EDM (wire and sinker), and 5-axis grindingwhile mentoring junior engineers, collaborating cross-functionally, and engaging directly with OEM customers.
️ Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for complex precision components in a regulated machining environment.

Implement and refine advanced machining techniques: CNC milling, EDM, and creep feed/CBN grinding.

Serve as the technical liaison for OEM customers, managing engineering communications and change control processes.

Lead process validation, requalification, and improvement initiatives for both new and legacy products.

Define efficient tool paths, cutting parameters, fixtures, and EDM settings to ensure quality, repeatability, and tool longevity.

Partner with Quality, Tooling, Operations, and external vendors to deploy scalable manufacturing solutions.

Perform root cause analyses and lead continuous improvement projects to boost yield and reduce scrap.

Provide CAD/CAM programming support (Mastercam, Vericut, SolidWorks) for both new and legacy parts.

Assist in audits, FAI (First Article Inspections), and documentation packages (PPAP/FAI).

Mentor junior engineers and train machine operators on new processes and tooling strategies.
What You Bring to the Table
Required Qualifications:
-
510+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role within aerospace, energy, defense, or other highly regulated industries.

Advanced expertise in:
-
Multi-axis CNC machining
-
EDM (wire and sinker)
-
Grinding techniques (creep feed, CBN, or 5-axis)
-

Strong knowledge of CAD/CAM platforms: Mastercam, Vericut, and SolidWorks.

Skilled in interpreting complex blueprints and GD&T specifications.
-
Experience in customer-facing technical roles and engineering change control.

Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management systems.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with high-temperature alloys (Inconel, Hastelloy, etc.).

Background in legacy product requalification and reverse engineering.

Experience with Haas CNC controls.

Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or Continuous Improvement certification.

Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.
