Mechanical Superintendent - Utility-Scale Renewable Energy Construction

 Job Description:

$130,000-$140,000/year, flexible for the right candidate, plus $120/day per diem

Alamogordo, New Mexico

The Opportunity

CJR Renewables is building a ground-floor path for a Mechanical Superintendent: start at the Houston, TX office, then relocate to lead mechanical construction on a utility-scale renewable energy project site in Alamogordo, New Mexico. You'll supervise field crews and subcontractors, coordinate with Safety, QA/QC, Project Controls, and Logistics, and report directly to the General Superintendent/Construction Manager on the mechanical scope of the build.

Why You'll Love This Role

You'll own the mechanical scope on a utility-scale solar or BESS build, not just execute someone else's plan. Compensation is budgeted at $130,000-$140,000 per year and flexible for the right fit, with candidates at the higher end welcome to apply. CJR covers $120/day per diem, seven days a week except during rotation, and pays for rotation travel directly. Relocation is paid, and once you're on-site in Alamogordo, you'll have a company truck for work-related use.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Supervise and direct field crews and subcontractors on the mechanical scope
  • Coordinate daily with Safety, QA/QC, Project Controls, and Logistics
  • Read plans and interpret specifications to make real-time operational calls
  • Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with OSHA requirements
  • Keep the mechanical scope on budget and on schedule
  • Report progress and issues to the General Superintendent/Construction Manager daily

What We're Looking For

  • 5-7 years of field supervisory experience in utility-scale renewable energy construction; solar or BESS experience preferred
  • OSHA 30 required (OSHA 10 acceptable for onboarding, with OSHA 30 to follow)
  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to read plans and interpret specifications to guide field decisions
  • Experience with Procore or similar construction management platforms preferred
  • Willingness to travel and relocate temporarily to project sites, up to 80-100%
  • U.S. work authorization required; sponsorship is not available

Why Candidates Say Yes

  • Ground-floor role with a clear track from Houston HQ into hands-on field leadership
  • Flexible salary for the right background, including higher-range candidates
  • Full per diem coverage, paid rotation travel, and paid relocation
  • Company truck provided once on-site in Alamogordo
  • Direct ownership of the mechanical scope on a utility-scale build
