Houston, TX (Onsite) $130,000–$155,000 + 15% Target Bonus + Full Benefits
The Opportunity
You'll lead the engineering and quality functions at a regional service center for a $100M division of a $5B publicly traded global manufacturer. This is a highly visible role where you'll serve as the on-site technical leader for inspection, repair, and overhaul of industrial gearboxes, turbines, and compressors — directly influencing customer satisfaction, operational performance, and technical excellence. You'll manage a team of four mechanical engineers while partnering with operations, sales, supply chain, and a broader global engineering organization.

Your Day-to-Day
- Lead, develop, and coach the regional service center engineering team, providing technical direction across all projects
- Oversee engineering and quality activities for the inspection, repair, and overhaul of rotating equipment including industrial gearboxes, turbines, and compressors
- Direct teardown evaluations, identify failure modes, and define repair scope for customer equipment
- Perform reverse engineering to support repair, redesign, and manufacturing processes
- Drive on-time, high-quality execution of complex repair and rebuild projects
- Act as the key technical liaison across sales, supply chain, operations, and external suppliers
- Review and interpret customer technical requirements to ensure alignment with project execution
- Oversee assembly, testing, and final inspection to meet quality and delivery commitments
- Lead project management for breakdowns, technically complex repairs, and high-value orders
- Provide technical reports, documentation, and data packages per contractual requirements
- Oversee quality control activities including calibration, corrective actions, and audit compliance
- Support customer-facing functions with estimating, technical input, project updates, and technical presentations
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Industrial Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar considered)
- 12–15+ years of experience in rotating equipment design, engineering, or repair — gearboxes, power transmission systems, or similar
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing engineering teams within a service, repair, or manufacturing environment
- Strong proficiency in CAD and engineering tools; SolidWorks experience preferred
- Solid understanding of inspection, repair, and overhaul processes for industrial equipment
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working cross-functionally with sales, operations, and supply chain teams
- Comfortable interfacing with customers and delivering technical presentations
- Willingness to travel occasionally (<10%) for customer visits and training
