Job Description:
THE OPPORTUNITY
A highly technical defense and maritime R&D firm is seeking a Power Electronics Engineer for its Sensing and Communications Department. You'll design and develop power electronics systems for unmanned underwater vehicles, acoustic communication systems, and high-power maritime transmit arrays — in a small-company environment that rewards technical excellence and entrepreneurial thinking. Full relocation is provided.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
Design, develop, integrate, and debug complex power electronics systems for underwater maritime applications
Design DC/DC and AC/DC power systems ranging from 500W to 50kW for harsh operating environments
Select components, capture schematics, execute PCB design, and lead verification testing
Work with electromechanical actuators, DC/DC converters, power amplifiers, and magnetics
Travel to support on-site testing (up to 25%)
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
BSEE with 4+ years of relevant experience, or MSEE with 1+ years
Concentration in power systems design required
Experience with high availability power supplies and/or failover systems
Comprehensive knowledge of MOSFETs, Schottky Diodes, SiC FETs, and IGBTs
Proficiency with DMM, oscilloscopes, function generators, and digital measurement probes
Full relocation provided
