We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Senior Power BI Engineer for a 6-month project to lead the design, development, and optimization of business intelligence solutions using Power BI. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, mentor junior team members, and implement best practices for data modeling and visualization to drive impactful, data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and build sophisticated dashboards and visualizations using Power BI to meet complex business requirements.
  • Integrate data from multiple sources, design efficient data models, and create optimized DAX measures and queries.
  • Partner with stakeholders, data scientists, and engineers to translate business needs into robust Power BI solutions.
  • Monitor and optimize Power BI dashboards, datasets, and infrastructure to ensure high performance and scalability.
  • Implement and maintain data governance policies, row-level security (RLS), and other security best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior Power BI developers and team members.
  • Stay current with Power BI updates, industry trends, and best practices to implement innovative solutions and enhancements.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for data workflows, models, and dashboards.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Power BI development, data visualization, and analytics.
  • Proven expertise in building enterprise-grade BI solutions.
  • Deep knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, and Power BI Report Server.
  • Advanced proficiency in DAX, Power Query (M), and data visualization techniques.
  • Strong SQL skills for querying, optimizing, and analyzing large datasets.
  • Experience designing and implementing data pipelines, warehousing, and star/snowflake schema modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL tools and integrating data from diverse sources.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage competing priorities.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills to upskill team members.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Advanced analytical and troubleshooting abilities for complex BI scenarios.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud platforms like Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Knowledge of programming languages like Python or R for data analytics.
  • Familiarity with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView).
  • Power BI certifications (e.g., PL-300: Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst or PL-400: Power Platform Developer).
  • Experience with DevOps for BI, including CI/CD pipelines and version control.
