About the job Supply Chain Specialist
Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Newbuilding Commercial Team to support procurement planning and coordination for assigned shipbuilding projects.
- Establish procurement schedules aligned with project timelines and shipyard requirements.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders (engineering, project management, and finance) to ensure specifications, budgets, and delivery needs are met.
- Identify and evaluate suppliers for ship equipment, systems, and parts.
- Obtain, review, and negotiate quotations to achieve competitive pricing and favorable commercial terms.
- Manage purchase order (PO) creation, approval, and issuance processes.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and contractual obligations in all procurement transactions.
- Review and negotiate contract terms, ensuring alignment with project and company requirements.
- Be well-versed in intercompany (Interco) freight terms, incoterms, and logistics coordination.
- Support commercial evaluations and vendor selection in collaboration with relevant departments.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date procurement logs, PO tracking sheets, and supplier databases.
- Monitor delivery schedules, proactively resolving potential delays or discrepancies.
- Coordinate with finance and shipyard commercial teams for payment processing, invoice verification, and documentation control.
- Provide regular procurement status reports and updates to management.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company standards, shipyard requirements, and classification society rules.
- Support audits and internal reviews as needed.
- Recommend improvements to procurement workflows, vendor performance, and cost optimization.
Job Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Supply Chain, Marine Engineering, Business, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in marine or shipbuilding procurement.
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Good understanding of ship equipment, systems, and vendor networks
- Familiar with incoterms and international freight arrangements
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple project timelines.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and procurement management systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle).
