Job Title: AS/400 Subject Matter Expert GCP Migration

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced AS/400 SME with strong expertise in RPGLE, CLLE, and DB2/400 to support our Google Cloud Platform (GCP) migration initiative. The ideal candidate will play a key role in assessing, modernizing, and migrating existing AS/400 applications and databases to GCP, working closely with cross-functional technical teams.

Technical Specialist with Mainframe - Cobol, DB2, VSAM, JCL, CICS

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze existing AS/400 systems, applications, and DB2/400 databases to define migration strategy to GCP.
  • Collaborate with cloud architects and developers to design and implement modernization solutions.
  • Re-engineer or refactor AS/400 code (RPGLE, CLLE) to fit cloud-native architecture.
  • Assist in creating automated deployment and data migration pipelines.
  • Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise on AS/400 environment during migration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues during migration and testing phases.
  • Develop technical documentation, best practices, and operational procedures.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members or offshore developers, if applicable.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Strong hands-on experience with IBM iSeries / AS/400 systems.
  • Proven expertise in RPGLE, CLLE, and DB2/400.
  • Demonstrated experience in AS/400 modernization or migration projects (preferably to cloud platforms).
  • Familiarity with GCP (Google Cloud Platform) services, especially related to migration, compute, and data.
  • Understanding of APIs, integrations, and middleware related to legacy modernization.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, cross-functional environment.
Good to Have
  • Experience with GCP migration tools (e.g., Velostrata, StratoZone, BigQuery, Cloud SQL).
  • Exposure to microservices, API-based modernization, or containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
  • Knowledge of DevOps or CI/CD pipelines.
  • Previous experience in consulting or enterprise modernization projects.
