AU PAYROLL SPECIALIST

About the Position:

We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join one of our clients and play a key role in delivering accurate, timely, and compliant payroll services across multiple client accounts. In this role, you will support end-to-end payroll processing, employee data management, payroll reporting, and statutory compliance activities, while working closely with the Payroll Team Leader. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented payroll professional with Australian payroll exposure to further develop their expertise in a collaborative and supportive environment, contributing to high-quality service delivery and positive client outcomes. 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with preparing and processing payroll on a weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis
  • Enter and maintain employee payroll data (new starters, terminations, pay changes)
  • Timesheet checking and data validation
  • Assist with leave processing (annual leave, personal leave, long service leave)
  • Generate payroll reports for internal review
  • Respond to basic payroll enquiries from employees
  • Assist with superannuation, payroll tax, and standard deductions
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files
  • Support end‑of‑period tasks (pay runs, reconciliations)
  • Follow documented payroll processes and internal controls
  • Adhoc payroll and administrative support as required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accountancy or any relevant accounting degree
  • Certified Public Accountants are preferred
  • Must have at least 3 years of experience in a related field.
  • Proven experience in preparing of ATO Lodgments BAS, IAS & PAYG Summary
  • Written and verbal English communication and comprehension
  • Attention to detail, completing tasks with thoroughness and accuracy management skills (goal setting, prioritization, planning ahead, clear focus, limited procrastination)
  • Knowledge Coordination and project management
  • Use of XERO, MYOB and Receipt Bank
  • Awareness - Australian Accounting Practices & Taxation
