Senior Engineer
Long term assignment, extended in 6 month increments
Fulltime onsite to start either in Oshkosh, WI or Warren, MI- will be flexibility in hybrid role once candidate is established
Must be USC
No travel
Top 3 Requirements: Strong understanding/experience with electro-mechanical power systems, high voltage systems and high voltage electrical safety experience, past experience with design and integration of vehicles
The Senior Engineer develops electro-mechanical designs that are functional, reliable, and cost-effective heavy-duty vehicle electrical systems. Perform engineering analysis and electrical design or re-design, and development of electrical systems and subsystems into existing and new vehicles. Provides integration and execution support for vehicle control and embedded systems development.
YOUR IMPACT:
General industry engineering standards and processes including one-line schematics showing mechanical, electrical and thermal connections.
Have an understanding of electro-mechanical power systems, components, and concepts, such as generator sizing and component placement
Understanding of high voltage systems and high voltage electrical safety.
Ability to estimate/calculate the available power and vehicle loads with limited information.
Support more senior engineers in the preparation of plans, designs, computation methods, and/or reporting.
Responsible for a project or part of a project of limited complexity.
May be responsible for supporting multiple projects.
Collaborate as needed with other engineering or business support disciplines internally as well as suppliers externally.
Provide support to engineers, designers, or technicians working on a common project to ensure proper space is allowed for wiring, thermal management, mounting, etc of components on vehicle by using installation manuals and build/design experience.
Responsible for design and integration of electrical components and circuitry into heavy duty vehicles with understanding of vehicle powertrain and powertrain-related systems
Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot or production builds, including resolution of problems in manufacturing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with three (3) or more years of related experience.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to design a thermal management system is a plus, but not necessary.
Accredited Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
Familiarity with programming languages and controls software.
Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN)/SAE J1939 and/or Vehicle Networking.
Automotive/Heavy Equipment Repair or Design Experience.
Wire Harness design experience.
