About the Role

An upper midscale resort is seeking an experienced Assistant Resort Manager to support the day-to-day operation of the property, with a strong focus on operational execution, guest experience, service standards, property condition, and cross-departmental coordination.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is visible on the floor, responsive to operational issues, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across multiple departments.

The Assistant Resort Manager will have primary operational responsibility for Food and Beverage, Front Office, PBX, and Bell Services, while working closely with Housekeeping, Engineering, Security, Reservations, Human Resources, Sales and Revenue, IT, and other operational areas.

This position does not report directly to the General Manager, but will work closely with the General Manager and department leaders to support consistent resort operations and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on oversight of daily resort operations and ensure established service and operating standards are maintained.
  • Conduct regular property inspections, including guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, employee areas, grounds, and parking areas.
  • Identify operational deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
  • Monitor guest feedback, recurring complaints, and service concerns and ensure effective follow-up.
  • Support service recovery and ensure guest concerns are resolved professionally and completely.
  • Coordinate across departments to improve communication, workflow, accountability, and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction, room cleanliness, room condition, maintenance concerns, breakfast service, and Food and Beverage quality.
  • Provide regular operational updates and recommendations to designated leadership.

Food & Beverage Operations

  • Provide operational oversight of restaurants, bars, breakfast service, functions, and special events.
  • Monitor food quality, service, cleanliness, presentation, cost control, inventory, and waste.
  • Ensure Food and Beverage equipment is checked regularly and deficiencies are reported and resolved.
  • Support menu initiatives, promotions, events, and revenue-generating opportunities.
  • Coach and support Food and Beverage leaders to improve service, productivity, and accountability.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health, hygiene, sanitation, and food safety standards.

Front Office, PBX & Bell Services

  • Oversee the effectiveness of Front Office, PBX, and Bell Services.
  • Ensure professional arrival, check-in, guest assistance, and departure experiences.
  • Monitor staffing, scheduling, productivity, and service standards.
  • Ensure Shift Managers take ownership of guest concerns and property standards during their shifts.
  • Coordinate closely with Housekeeping and Engineering regarding room readiness, out-of-order rooms, and maintenance concerns.
  • Identify opportunities to improve Front Office communication, service delivery, and operating procedures.

Housekeeping, Engineering & Property Standards

  • Work closely with Housekeeping to monitor room readiness, cleanliness, public-area presentation, and guest room standards.
  • Conduct room and property inspections as required.
  • Work with Engineering to monitor maintenance priorities and outstanding repairs.
  • Track out-of-order rooms and support efforts to return rooms to inventory promptly.
  • Support resort projects, repairs, renovations, and work involving outside contractors.
  • Monitor property condition and escalate significant operational concerns when required.

Leadership & Accountability

  • Promote strong teamwork and collaboration across resort departments.
  • Hold managers and employees accountable for standards, commitments, and follow-through.
  • Coach leaders to take ownership of operational issues and address concerns proactively.
  • Reinforce expectations related to professionalism, responsiveness, guest service, attention to detail, and accountability.
  • Support a healthy employee environment built on respect, teamwork, communication, and consistent leadership.

Cost Control & Operational Efficiency

  • Monitor inventory and par levels across assigned operational areas.
  • Identify waste, inefficiencies, and cost-control opportunities.
  • Support department leaders with effective management of labor, supplies, equipment, and operating resources.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and expense control as required.
  • Recommend improvements that strengthen productivity, service delivery, and overall operating performance.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive hotel or resort operations experience.
  • At least 2 years in an operational leadership or management role.
  • Strong working knowledge of hotel or resort operations, particularly Food and Beverage, Front Office, Rooms Division, and property operations.
  • Previous experience in a resort, full-service hotel, or similar hospitality environment strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple operational areas and priorities.
  • Experience coaching teams and holding managers and employees accountable for performance and standards.
  • Strong understanding of guest service and service recovery.
  • Working knowledge of budgeting, cost control, inventory management, and operational financial performance.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and follow-through.
  • Ability to remain effective in a fast-paced, guest-focused environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and hotel operational systems.
  • Degree or professional qualification in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
