The Opportunity
An upper-midscale small hotel and restaurant operation in The Bahamas is seeking an energetic and commercially focused Food and Beverage Manager. This role has overall responsibility for the guest dining experience, service standards, team performance and financial results across food and beverage operations. The ideal candidate is visible on the floor, comfortable with numbers and passionate about developing people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership for restaurant, bar, banquet and related food and beverage operations, ensuring seamless and memorable guest experiences.
- Translate business goals into daily operating plans, service standards, staffing levels and measurable departmental targets.
- Recruit, onboard, schedule, coach and evaluate managers and team members; establish clear expectations and follow through on accountability.
- Maintain a strong floor presence during peak periods, resolving service issues promptly and supporting effective guest recovery.
- Partner with the Head Chef and other hotel departments to coordinate menus, pricing, promotions, dietary requests, special events and the needs of in-house guests and groups.
- Prepare and manage budgets, forecasts and operating reports; monitor revenue, labour, cost of sales, average spend, productivity and profitability.
- Strengthen revenue through thoughtful menu engineering, upselling, promotions, local partnerships and effective use of available dining capacity.
- Oversee purchasing, receiving, beverage controls, inventory counts, cash-handling procedures and loss-prevention practices.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, sanitation, responsible beverage service, workplace safety and company policies.
- Conduct pre-shift briefings, departmental meetings and ongoing service training to maintain consistency and engagement.
- Analyze guest feedback and operating trends, then implement practical improvements with clear owners and deadlines.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree or diploma in hospitality management, food and beverage management or a related field preferred.
- At least five years of progressive food and beverage experience, including three years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong understanding of restaurant and bar operations, service standards, budgeting, inventory, labour planning and cost control.
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, manage performance and build a guest-focused service culture.
- Confident user of point-of-sale, scheduling, inventory and standard office systems.
- Excellent communication, financial awareness, judgment and problem-solving skills.
- Hotel, resort or multi-outlet experience is preferred; banquet or event experience is an asset.
- Guest satisfaction and service consistency improve across all food and beverage touchpoints.
