Position Overview: A leading healthcare provider in The Bahamas is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Vice President of Human Resources to lead the Human Resources department. Reporting directly to the President & CEO, the Senior Vice President will play a pivotal role in shaping the organizational culture, fostering talent development, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Strategic Leadership: 

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and execute strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals and objectives. 
  • Provide guidance and expertise on human resources matters to support the overall mission and vision of the hospital. 
  • Drive innovation and change management efforts to enhance operational efficiency and employee engagement. 

2. Human Resources Management: 

  • Lead the Human Resources department in developing and implementing best practices for recruitment, retention, and talent management. 
  • Oversee the design and administration of competitive compensation and benefits programs to attract and retain top talent. 
  • Develop and enforce HR policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local labor laws, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards. 
  • Foster a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the organization, promoting equal opportunities and fair treatment for all employees. 
  • Utilize Human Resource Information System (HRIS) platforms to automate Human Resource operations and functions. 

3. Employee Relations: 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and resource for employees and managers on matters related to employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution. 
  • Implement strategies to enhance employee satisfaction, morale, and productivity through effective communication, recognition programs, and professional development opportunities. 
  • Lead investigations into employee complaints or grievances, ensuring timely and fair resolution in accordance with company policies and legal requirements. 

4. Training and Development: 

  • Develop and implement comprehensive training and development programs to enhance the skills, knowledge, and competencies of employees at all levels. 
  • Collaborate with department heads and educational institutions to identify training needs, design curriculum, and facilitate learning initiatives tailored to the healthcare industry. 
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback mechanisms, performance metrics, and continuous improvement efforts. 

5. Budget Management: 

  • Develop and manage the annual budget for the Human Resources department, ensuring optimal allocation of resources to support organizational objectives. 
  • Monitor expenditures, analyze financial performance, and implement cost- saving measures while maintaining high-quality services and programs. 
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to prepare financial reports, forecasts, and variance analyses for senior leadership and stakeholders. 

6. Leadership and Collaboration: 

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of HR professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous learning. 
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with department heads, physicians, and key stakeholders to address organizational challenges, promote alignment, and drive strategic initiatives forward. 
  • Represent the hospital in professional associations, industry conferences, and community events to enhance our reputation and visibility within the healthcare sector. 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field required; Master's degree preferred. 
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in human resources management, with at least 5 years in a senior management or executive role. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, and organizational development within a healthcare or academic environment. 
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and best practices in HR management. 
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and decision-making skills, with the ability to drive results and influence change at the executive level. 
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport, inspire trust, and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. 
  • Professional certifications such as SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent credentials preferred. 
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying abreast of industry trends and best practices.
