About the Role
An established upper midscale hotel is seeking an experienced and people-focused Human Resources Manager to lead the property's Human Resources function.
This is a hands-on leadership role for an HR professional who enjoys being connected to hotel operations, partnering with managers, supporting employees, and building a positive, accountable workplace culture.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Human Resources Manager will oversee recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training and development, HR administration, employee engagement, and compliance with applicable Bahamian employment and labour requirements.
The successful candidate will bring strong HR knowledge, sound judgment, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to balance employee advocacy with the operational needs of the hotel.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage recruitment and selection activities across hotel departments, including sourcing, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding.
- Partner with department leaders to identify staffing needs and support effective workforce planning.
- Manage employee relations matters, including employee concerns, conflict resolution, disciplinary matters, grievances, and workplace investigations.
- Provide guidance and coaching to managers on employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, and leadership practices.
- Coordinate the hotel's performance management process and support managers in addressing performance gaps.
- Identify training and development needs and coordinate appropriate learning opportunities for employees and supervisors.
- Develop, review, communicate, and consistently administer HR policies and procedures.
- Ensure HR practices comply with applicable Bahamian employment and labour legislation and company requirements.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, documentation, and HR reports.
- Support employee benefits, attendance, leave administration, and other HR operational processes.
- Develop employee engagement, recognition, and retention initiatives.
- Promote a healthy workplace culture built on respect, teamwork, accountability, communication, and high performance.
- Maintain a visible and approachable HR presence throughout the property.
- Support succession planning and the development of high-potential employees.
- Provide HR reporting and workforce insights to assist hotel leadership with decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Previous experience as an HR Manager, Assistant HR Manager, HR Business Partner, or similar role preferred.
- Hospitality, hotel, resort, or service-industry HR experience is highly desirable.
- Working knowledge of Bahamian employment and labour practices is strongly preferred.
- Professional HR certification or designation is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience in recruitment, employee relations, performance management, training, and HR administration.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Excellent judgment and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters professionally.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced hotel environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with HRIS or other HR technology.
