The Opportunity
An upper-midscale small hotel and restaurant operation in The Bahamas is seeking a service-driven Assistant Food and Beverage Manager. Working closely with the Food and Beverage Manager, this position leads day-to-day restaurant and bar operations, supports team development and ensures each shift is organized, welcoming and commercially sound.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Food and Beverage Manager in the daily operation of restaurant, bar, banquet and related service areas.
- Lead assigned shifts, including opening and closing procedures, staff deployment, pre-shift briefings and service handovers.
- Maintain an active floor presence, monitor service flow and respond quickly to guest requests, complaints and recovery needs.
- Coach team members on product knowledge, sequence of service, upselling, grooming, attendance and professional conduct.
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, timekeeping and performance documentation.
- Coordinate with the kitchen to manage ticket flow, menu availability, allergies, dietary requests and service timing.
- Verify cash, point-of-sale, discount, void, complimentary and closing procedures in accordance with company controls.
- Support beverage and operating-supply inventories, requisitions, receiving, stock rotation and variance investigation.
- Monitor outlet cleanliness, ambience, equipment readiness and compliance with food-safety and workplace-safety requirements.
- Assist in executing promotions, special events, group functions and seasonal service initiatives.
- Prepare accurate shift reports, incident notes and operational updates for management follow-up.
- Act for the Food and Beverage Manager when assigned, making sound operational decisions within delegated authority.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma or coursework in hospitality or food and beverage management preferred.
- At least five years of restaurant, bar or hotel food and beverage experience, including supervisory responsibility.
- Working knowledge of service standards, cash handling, point-of-sale systems, inventory and cost-conscious operations.
- Ability to supervise a shift confidently, give clear direction and address performance concerns respectfully.
- Strong guest-service, communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Food-safety certification and responsible beverage-service training are preferred.
- Banquet, event or hotel experience is an asset.

- Cash, inventory, labour and operating controls are followed accurately.
- Team members understand expectations and receive practical coaching that improves performance.

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and assist with the physical demands of restaurant service when needed.
- Professional presentation and comfort working in a busy, guest-facing environment.
