Project Description

Our client, a leading healthcare payor organization, is seeking a Healthcare Solution Architect to serve as the conduit between Enterprise and Application Architecture teams, ensuring solutions and roadmaps can be successfully executed. The ideal candidate is based in the Maryland, Washington DC, or Virginia area for weekly visits, with a secondary option for candidates in WV, NC, PA, DE, NY, NJ, TX, or FL who can travel monthly to the Reston, VA office. The interview process consists of 2-3 rounds, including at least one onsite round for local candidates.

This role drives enterprise optimization by introducing capabilities across the domain of responsibility, translating business needs into architectural solutions that meet performance, reliability, and security expectations, and applying enterprise roadmaps, principles, and standards to execute domain strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of domain architecture viewpoints and models depicting current, target, and interim states
• Identify and analyze pain points and opportunities using current state viewpoints
• Lead advanced modeling and analysis addressing system, information, functional/non-functional, performance, and security/regulatory needs
• Create and apply architecture patterns aligned with IT strategies and reference architectures
• Ensure target state alignment and traceability across business and solution architecture layers
• Lead extension and enhancement of domain architecture strategies, standards, and guidelines
• Lead design, engineering, and implementation of reusable assets to improve solution quality
• Lead peer reviews and represent the architecture domain in Architecture Review Board briefings
• Oversee publishing and maintenance of architecture viewpoints and work products in the repository
• Ensure regulatory and compliance issues are addressed within solutions
• Collaborate with business and technical teams, stakeholders, and partners to maximize architecture impact
• Lead evaluation and selection of solutions/products aligned with IT and domain strategies
• Research emerging domain trends and assess relevance to organizational strategy
• Lead vendor evaluations and represent the architecture domain in RFI/RFP processes
• Lead development of domain architecture methods, tools, and stakeholder communications
• Lead domain assessments for complex projects supporting annual planning and resource estimation
• Provide input to project, product, and enterprise technology roadmaps
• Provide regular reporting on architecture domain progress, issues, and opportunities

Mandatory Skills

• 8+ years of experience as a Solution Architect
• Healthcare industry background in Claims or Enrollment domains
• Hands-on expertise with Java, Spring Boot, API/Web Services, Angular/UX, DB2, and AWS Cloud
• Experience collaborating with stakeholders within a SAFE/Agile framework
• Demonstrated ability to translate business strategy into technical solutions, align new capabilities with enterprise guidelines, and provide end-to-end architecture design for features/products/capabilities
• Experience authoring architecture design documentation for use by development teams
• Ability to coach, delegate to, and develop architects and engineers
• Ability to manage cross-domain architecture solutions and issues
• Expertise with domain-related architecture frameworks, methods, and tools
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills (written and verbal)
• Bachelor's degree preferred
