Position Overview

We are seeking a Product & Process Development Engineer (PDE) to support new product introduction (NPI) and drive the seamless transition from concept to mass production.

This role sits at the intersection of product design, manufacturing process development, and global operations, acting as a key technical bridge between customer engineering teams and Lens's manufacturing network.

Key Responsibilities

Customer-Facing Product Development

  • Partner with customer design, mechanical, and manufacturing teams during early development phases
  • Provide DFM (Design for Manufacturability) and DFA (Design for Assembly) recommendations
  • Support design reviews, tolerance analysis, and material selection

Process Development & Industrialization

  • Develop and validate manufacturing processes for precision components and assemblies (glass, metal, composites, etc.)
  • Define process flows, tooling, fixtures, and control plans
  • Lead process qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) and capability validation

NPI Program Execution

  • Drive end-to-end NPI builds (EVT / DVT / PVT through mass production)
  • Identify technical risks and implement mitigation strategies during ramp
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams across engineering, quality, and operations

Cross-Regional Engineering Collaboration

  • Translate customer requirements into actionable specifications for global manufacturing sites
  • Partner with Asia and Mexico teams to ensure process readiness and yield targets
  • Support onsite builds and production ramp as needed

Quality & Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze yield issues and lead root cause analysis (RCA)
  • Implement corrective actions to improve quality and process stability
  • Support sustaining engineering activities and engineering change management (ECO/ECN)

Qualifications

Experience

  • 5–10+ years in product engineering, process engineering, or NPI roles
  • Experience in EMS / contract manufacturing environments preferred
  • Background in consumer electronics, robotics/AI hardware, or automotive/EV

Technical Expertise

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (CNC, molding, coating, assembly, etc.)
  • Solid knowledge of DFM/DFA and GD&T, including tolerance stack-up analysis
  • Hands-on experience with NPI phases (EVT / DVT / PVT mass production)

Collaboration & Communication

  • Ability to work directly with customer engineering teams
  • Strong cross-functional coordination across global teams
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments

Language

  • Fluent in English; Mandarin is a plus

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field
