Lead Content Strategy & Build a Best-in-Class Medical Team Remote Position (EST Hours)

As a Medical Director, Market Access, you will be the top content strategist, shaping the divisions culture while leading medical content development and team growth. This is a unique opportunity to build the medical division from the ground up while collaborating with internal stakeholders and external clientsall in a fully remote role.
Note: This is a remote position. Candidates can be based in PST or CST but must be available to work EST hours (with some flexibility).
Key Responsibilities
Content Leadership & Strategy
- Serve as the lead medical content strategist, ensuring all deliverables are scientifically sound, engaging, and aligned with client goals.
- Create high-impact, data-driven content that differentiates client brands and advances market access objectives.
- Ensure accuracy, clarity, and regulatory compliance of all materials, with minimal review needed.
- Guide content through medical/regulatory approval processes, incorporating feedback to refine and finalize assets.
- Identify innovative ways to present complex data, enhancing impact and accessibility.
Team Building & Leadership
- Develop and lead a team of talented medical writers, establishing best practices and a culture of excellence.
- Provide mentorship, training, and quality oversight to ensure high standards in all medical content.
- Foster continuous learning and drive innovation within the team to stay ahead of industry trends.
Collaboration & Client Engagement
- Partner with Creative, Account, and Market Access Strategy teams to produce compelling, medically accurate content across digital and print platforms.
- Act as a strategic partner to clients, leading medical discussions, defending work, and providing scientific insights.
- Work closely with the creative team to develop accurate and effective visuals that align with brand messaging.
- Educate internal teams on medical topics to elevate the agencys expertise and thought leadership.
Operational & Strategic Impact
- Contribute to new business efforts by providing medical insights and strategic direction during pitches.
- Shape the divisions long-term vision, helping to scale operations and expand service offerings.
- Drive efficiency and effectiveness in content development processes, ensuring timely and high-quality execution.
Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) in a medical or scientific field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in medical content development within a Market Access agency (agency experience required).
- Broad therapeutic area knowledge preferred; launch experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into compelling narratives.
- Deep understanding of FDA regulations, AMA style, and industry best practices.
- Proven leadership experience, including hiring, mentoring, and managing a high-performing team.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and drive change.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, balancing multiple high-priority projects.
- Willingness to travel periodically to client sites or industry events as needed.
