Context:
Our client is a leading international mining company operating a large-scale copper and cobalt processing operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. To strengthen its Engineering & Maintenance Department, the company is seeking an experienced Mechanical & Engineering Superintendent to lead the execution of mechanical maintenance activities, improve equipment reliability and ensure the highest standards of safety and operational performance.
This operational leadership role plays a critical part in maintaining the availability and reliability of mechanical equipment across the processing plant while supporting production objectives through effective maintenance planning and execution.

Missions & Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the mechanical maintenance teams to ensure safe and efficient execution of maintenance activities.
Develop and coordinate preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance plans to maximise equipment availability and plant performance.
Ensure the reliability and integrity of mechanical equipment, including pumps, rotating equipment and fixed plant assets.
Investigate equipment failures, perform root cause analyses and implement sustainable corrective actions.
Coordinate maintenance shutdowns and work closely with production teams to minimise operational downtime.
Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve plant reliability, maintenance practices and operational efficiency.
Manage maintenance resources, work schedules, spare parts availability and contractor activities.
Ensure compliance with company SHEQ standards, engineering procedures and statutory regulations.
Supervise and develop maintenance personnel through coaching, performance management and technical guidance.
Support engineering improvement initiatives and contribute to capital projects by providing technical expertise and resource planning.
Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and budget controls to support operational decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience:
Qualified Trade Certificate with an N3/N4 qualification or equivalent technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Minimum of 10 years' experience in mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial operations at Supervisor and/or Superintendent level.
Strong hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance of fixed plant equipment, pumps and rotating machinery.
Proven experience leading maintenance teams within large industrial environments.
Solid understanding of maintenance systems, equipment reliability, cost control and SHEQ management.
Strong troubleshooting, planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise maintenance activities under operational pressure.
Previous experience working on remote FIFO mining sites; African mining experience and previous exposure to the Democratic Republic of Congo are highly desirable.
Excellent leadership, communication and people management skills.
Good command of English; French / Swahili language skills are considered a strong advantage.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
