Context:
Our client is a leading international mining company operating a large-scale copper and cobalt processing operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As part of its commitment to operational excellence, asset reliability and continuous improvement, the company is seeking an experienced Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead all engineering and maintenance activities across its mining, processing and utilities operations.
This strategic leadership role is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable and cost-effective performance of all fixed and mobile assets while supporting long-term operational objectives and business growth.

Missions & Responsibilities:
Lead and manage all Engineering & Maintenance functions across Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control, Infrastructure, Utilities and Mobile Equipment.
Develop and implement engineering strategies to maximise plant reliability, equipment availability and operational efficiency.
Drive asset management, preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance and reliability improvement programmes across the operation.
Ensure safe, reliable and cost-effective operation of all fixed plant, hydro-mining, dredging, processing facilities and utility systems.
Lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and foster a high-performance, safety-driven culture.
Manage engineering budgets (OPEX & CAPEX), cost optimisation initiatives and long-term asset strategies.
Oversee capital projects from engineering design through commissioning and handover.
Support production teams by providing technical leadership during plant shutdowns, breakdowns and operational challenges.
Ensure full compliance with HSE standards, corporate policies and DRC regulatory requirements.
Develop engineering standards, maintenance systems and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
Act as the site's senior engineering authority and provide technical guidance to executive management and key stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or a related Engineering discipline.
Extensive senior engineering and maintenance leadership experience within mining, mineral processing or heavy industrial operations.
Proven experience managing multidisciplinary engineering departments in complex industrial environments.
Strong knowledge of asset management, reliability engineering, maintenance planning, fixed plant operations and mobile equipment.
Experience managing CAPEX projects, engineering governance and continuous improvement programmes.
Excellent leadership, organisational and decision-making skills with the ability to manage large engineering teams.
Previous experience in Africa, preferably in the Democratic Republic of Congo or similar remote mining environments, is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of process plants, pumping systems, utilities, SX/EW operations and heavy industrial maintenance.
Excellent English communication skills; French is considered a significant advantage.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, remote-site environment under demanding operational conditions.
