Resource / Geology Manager, Kolwezi, DRC – M/F

Context:

Gladys Synergies is recruiting on behalf of an international mining company developing a copper mining project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The company is establishing a technical team to support the start of mining operations. The Resource / Geology Manager will provide the geological expertise required to guide mining decisions, strengthen resource confidence and ensure effective geological control throughout the operation.

Missions & Responsibilities:

• Manage the geological database, resource model and geological interpretation, ensuring data is reliable, current and suitable for mine planning.

• Lead drilling, sampling, grade control and geological data collection programmes, including contractor supervision and QA/QC.

• Define ore and waste boundaries and provide clear geological guidance to the mining team to optimise ore targeting and minimise dilution and waste movement.

• Reconcile resource models and expected grades and tonnages against mined material, stockpiles and production results, investigating significant variances.

• Provide geological, geotechnical and resource inputs to mine planning, operational decisions and ongoing exploration activities.

• Lead the geology team and ensure high standards of safety, data integrity, reporting and technical documentation.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Economic Geology or equivalent; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.

• Minimum 8 years of mining and resource geology experience, including at least 4 years in copper and in a senior position.

• Proven copper mining experience is an absolute prerequisite for this role.

• Strong expertise in resource modelling, drilling, grade control, sampling, QA/QC and mine-to-model reconciliation.

• Experience with geological and resource modelling software such as Leapfrog, Surpac, Datamine or equivalent, together with familiarity with recognised reporting standards.

• Previous experience in DRC, the Copperbelt or other frontier African mining environments is strongly preferred.

• Fluent English is required; French is an advantage.
