Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain complex SQL queries and stored procedures.

  • Optimize and improve existing SQL queries for performance and scalability.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand database requirements and implement efficient database solutions.

  • Monitor and ensure the integrity and security of databases, including backup and recovery processes.

  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights to support business decision-making.

  • Collaborate with software developers to integrate database functionality into applications.

  • Conduct performance tuning and optimization of databases for maximum efficiency.

  • Create and maintain documentation of database processes and procedures.

Required qualifications

  • Apprentice or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • Understanding of relational database management systems and SQL principles.

  • Knowledge of MySQL database administration and development.

  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries and stored procedures.

  • Experience working with database design, normalization, and performance tuning.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for data analysis and troubleshooting.

  • Understanding of data security and compliance standards.

  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and version control systems.

  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn continuously in a fast-paced environment.

  • Understanding of indexing, query execution plans, and database optimization techniques.

  • Experience with data modeling tools and techniques.

  • Knowledge of ETL processes and tools.

  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases is a plus.

  • Certifications in MySQL or relevant database technologies are advantageous.
