MARINE PAINTER
A new ship repair yard is being launched in Kingston, Jamaica, which will provide dry docking services for commercial vessels up to 20,000 tons, and a range of maintenance and repair services. The company is looking for candidates for the position of the MARINE PAINTER.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- apply coatings to ship tanks, bilges, underwater hulls, freeboards, superstructures, ship interiors or any other areas on a vessel requiring application of specified coatings
- prepare the surface by sanding, blasting, cleaning, etc., and remove old coatings using chemicals
- perform other duties like tinting paints, cutting stencils, design and lay out, graining, marbling, and flocking
- comply with the health & safety rules and maintain order & cleanliness at the workplace
- performing his professionality with his best experience
REQUIREMENTS:
The ideal candidate should possess some or all of the following qualifications:
- min 2 years experience as a marine or industrial spray painter using an airless pump or plural component pump
- be respirator fit tested and trained in respiratory safety
- forklift training/certification and aerial man lift training/certification is a plus
- consistency, neatness and precision
- communicative knowledge of English
- willing to overtime, night work and work on Sundays and public holidays
- commitment and understanding of all matters relating to health & safety
- willingness to relocate
