MARINE ELECTRICIAN

A new ship repair yard is being launched in Kingston, Jamaica, which will provide dry docking services for commercial vessels up to 20,000 tons, and a range of maintenance and repair services. The company is looking for candidates for the position of the Marine Electrician.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- install, modify, fabricate, and repair ships electrical, control, and instrumentation systems

- install wireways, cable racks, and associated cabling to interconnect ships power, communications, lighting, fire control, instrumentation and other electrical systems

- install cabinets, enclosures, controllers consoles, and other electrical equipment of ship systems

- repair or replace damaged electrical components

- troubleshoot faulty systems to identify problem areas and initiates action to commence repairs

- contribute to test electrical systems using blueprints, technical manuals, and test procedures to ensure adequate operational performance in accordance with the specified guidelines

- perform other duties assigned by the immediate superior

- comply with the health & safety rules and maintain order & cleanliness at the workplace

- performing his professionality with his best experience

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate should possess some or all of the following qualifications:

- high school diploma

- post-secondary electrician's degree and license is a plus.

- min of 5 years work experience in the ship repair industry

- basic trade specific knowledge, such as n understanding of power tools and their usage

- knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in the testing and repair of electrical components

- consistency, neatness and precision

- communicative knowledge of English

- willing to overtime, night work and work on Sundays and public holidays

- commitment and understanding of all matters relating to health & safety

- willingness to relocate
