PIPE & VALVE FOREMAN

A new ship repair yard is being launched in Harbour View Kingston, Jamaica, which will provide dry docking services for commercial vessels and a range of maintenance and repair services. The company is currently seeking a highly a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pipe & Valve Foreman to join our dynamic team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

• Supervise and lead a team of pipefitters, welders, and technicians in pipe and valve installation, maintenance, and repair onboard vessels in the shipyard.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate pipefitting and welding tasks in alignment with project requirements, ensuring timely completion while adhering to safety and quality standards.
• Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to guide pipe and valve installation and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.
• Monitor inventory, requisition materials, and oversee the proper utilization of tools and equipment necessary for pipefitting and welding operations.
• Conduct regular inspections during the repair to ensure the integrity of piping systems, valves, and associated components, recommending and implementing corrective actions as needed.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other departments to optimize workflow, resolve technical issues, and maintain project timelines.
• Train, mentor, and assess the performance of team members, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Extensive experience 10 years in pipefitting, valve installation, outfitting, and welding within a ship repair or maritime setting.
• Profound knowledge of shipyard operations, piping systems, various materials, valves, and welding techniques used in marine environments.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage a team, prioritize tasks, and delegate responsibilities.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications related to piping and valve systems.
• Proficiency in relevant tools, equipment, and techniques used in pipefitting, welding, and outfitting processes.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams and departments to ensure seamless project execution.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and practices governing shipyard operations.
