Marine Welding Engineer - Supervisor

WELDING ENGINEER / SUPERVISOR

A new ship repair yard is being launched in Kingston, Jamaica, which will provide dry docking services for commercial vessels up to 20,000 tons, and a range of maintenance and repair services. The company is looking for candidates for the posiƟon of the WELDING ENGINEER / SUPERVISOR.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- design and develop organizaƟon structure of the Welding & Steel Works Department

- determine qualificaƟon requirements for welders and steel workers as well as support recruitment and

onboarding process

- leads the Welding and Steel Works Department

- combine project requirements and the producƟon process

- develop welding documentaƟon (WPQR, WPS) and works instrucƟons according to industry standards,

specificaƟons and codes

- review inquires in terms of the ability of the shipyard to meet clients specific requirements approves welding

documentaƟon in accordance with customer specificaƟon and requirements

- establish and control procedures to meet project schedules and budget

- recommend and iniƟate improvements to processes to increase work efficiency

- develop welding instrucƟons and framework technologies for welding processes

- determine welding technology and develops the necessary welding documents for individual projects

- supervise welding process at every stage of operaƟons and provides inspecƟons

- resolve issues related to welding discrepancies

- performing his professionality with his best experience

REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate should possess some or all of the following qualificaƟons:

- bachelors degree in Welding Engineering

- minimum of 5 years of responsible experience in welding engineering in the industry preferably in ship repairs,

modernizaƟon and / or conversion

- strong familiarity with WPC and WPQR and broad knowledge of engineering and scienƟfic principles, pracƟces

and procedures

- English language proficiency

- willing to overƟme, night work and work on Sundays and public holidays

- commitment and understanding of all maƩers relaƟng to health & safety

- strong leadership and problem-solving skills

- strong Ɵme management and prioriƟzaƟon skills

- ability to mulƟ-task and be self-moƟvated

- ability to supervise diverse work groups

- strong ability to share technical knowledge and perform on the job trainings

- proficient knowledge of MicrosoŌ Office products

- willingness to relocate
