About Company:
Client Company is a biomass energy company converting maize straw and manure into biomass briquettes for industrial use. Our briquettes are designed as an alternative fuel for industrial boilers, furnaces, and power plants, reducing reliance on coal and other fossil fuels.
We are looking for a technical sales professional with a strong background in fuels, industrial boilers, and furnace operations. The ideal candidate will work closely with the boiler and procurement departments of industries to help them transition to biomass fuel.
Job Overview
The Sales Manager (Technical Sales Industrial Fuel) will focus on developing the biomass briquette market by working directly with boiler engineers, energy managers, and industrial buyers. This is a hybrid role that combines technical knowledge of fuel handling & combustion with commercial sales strategy.
This individual will later lead a commercial sales team but must first develop the technical sales pipeline by building industry relationships, educating buyers on biomass fuel compatibility, and providing post-sales support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Sales & Market Development
Identify and target industries using boilers, furnaces, and kilns that can switch to biomass briquettes.
Build relationships with boiler engineers, maintenance teams, and procurement managers.
Provide technical consultations to help industries transition to biomass fuel.
Conduct fuel performance trials in boilers and furnaces at client facilities.
2. Fuel Handling & Technical Support
Understand combustion properties of different fuels (coal, biomass, bagasse, rice husk, etc.).
Guide clients on fuel feeding mechanisms, storage, and handling.
Address technical concerns such as burn efficiency, ash content, moisture impact, and emissions.
Work with the plant operations team to ensure briquettes meet industry requirements.
3. Sales & Business Development
Develop a sales pipeline for industrial biomass fuel adoption.
Negotiate contracts, pricing, and supply agreements.
Work with the management team to develop pricing strategies.
Later, hire and lead a commercial sales team once the technical groundwork is established.
4. Market Intelligence & Competitor Analysis
Stay updated on fuel pricing trends (coal, biomass, LPG, natural gas, etc.).
Monitor competing biomass fuel suppliers and their offerings.
Identify boiler modifications or industry trends that can impact fuel adoption.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Minimum: B.Sc. in Mechanical, Chemical, Energy, or Industrial Engineering.
Preferred: MBA in Sales/Marketing (but technical experience is more important).
Experience:
5+ years of experience in boiler operations, fuels, or industrial sales.
Prior work in solid fuels (coal, bagasse, biomass, alternative fuels, or furnace oil substitutes).
Hands-on experience with boiler combustion, fuel handling, and emissions control.
Experience dealing with procurement teams in manufacturing industries.
Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of industrial boilers, furnaces, and fuel properties.
Sales & negotiation skills ability to pitch biomass fuel as a viable energy source.
Relationship management ability to work with engineers, plant managers, and procurement teams.
Analytical mindset understanding cost-benefit analysis for fuel switching.
