Job Description:
As the Head of Agile PMO, you will lead the establishment and ongoing management of the Agile Project Management Office within the organization. You will be responsible for defining the Agile PMO structure, governance, and processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and Agile best practices. This role involves collaborating with senior leadership, Agile teams, and stakeholders to drive consistent project delivery, enhance Agile maturity, and build a culture of continuous improvement. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that the Agile PMO supports the successful delivery of projects while promoting transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
Responsibilities:
Establishment of Agile PMO:
- Lead the creation and implementation of the Agile PMO, including defining its vision, structure, and governance model.
- Develop and standardize Agile project management processes, tools, and templates to support effective delivery across the organization.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure the Agile PMO aligns with strategic objectives and priorities.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting mechanisms to measure the effectiveness of the Agile PMO and project delivery.
Agile Governance and Oversight:
- Define and implement governance frameworks that support Agile delivery, ensuring projects are managed in line with Agile principles and best practices.
- Oversee the management of project risks, dependencies, and issues, ensuring they are addressed proactively and escalated as necessary.
- Ensure that Agile projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with business goals, maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Leadership and Collaboration:
- Provide leadership and direction to the Agile PMO team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with Agile teams (Scrum Masters, Product Owners, and Development Managers) to ensure consistent delivery practices and alignment across the organization.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure clear communication, alignment on project goals, and effective stakeholder engagement.
Continuous Improvement and Agile Maturity:
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance Agile practices, processes, and tools.
- Use data and feedback to drive improvements in project delivery performance, ensuring lessons learned are captured and applied across the organization.
- Support the development of Agile maturity within the organization by providing coaching, training, and guidance to teams and individuals.
Reporting and Communication:
- Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting mechanisms to provide transparency on project status, risks, and performance.
- Communicate regularly with senior leadership and stakeholders, providing updates on the Agile PMOs progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Ensure that all project-related information is accessible, accurate, and up to date, supporting informed decision-making across the organization.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in leading or establishing a Project Management Office (PMO), preferably within an Agile environment.
- Strong understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) and their application in project management.
- Experience in managing large-scale, complex projects and programs, with a focus on Agile delivery.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to align project delivery with organizational goals.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Agile certifications (e.g., SAFe, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), PMI-ACP).
- Experience with Agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and portfolio management systems.
- Experience in driving change and Agile transformation initiatives.
