This opportunity is suited to a qualified professional who can operate at senior level from day one, take ownership of engagements, and deliver quality outcomes within a collaborative global team environment.

Location: Johannesburg - Hybrid or Remote
Engagement: Annual Renewable Contract

The Opportunity

As an External Audit Senior, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality external audit services across a varied portfolio of UK clients. You will lead engagements from planning through completion, work directly with international stakeholders, and contribute to the development of junior team members while strengthening your global exposure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead external audit engagements from planning through to completion and partner review

  • Perform risk assessments, substantive testing, and analytical procedures across diverse client portfolios

  • Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure efficient engagement execution

  • Liaise directly with international clients to resolve queries and maintain engagement momentum

  • Review work prepared by junior team members, providing clear guidance and coaching

  • Prepare high-quality working papers and audit documentation aligned with professional standards

  • Identify control weaknesses and provide practical recommendations to clients

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified CA(SA), ACCA or CIMA

  • Minimum 2-3 year's post-articles external audit experience within a professional services environment

  • Proven UK GAAP audit experience (essential), with a focus on SME / owner-managed entities

  • Demonstrated experience leading audit sections or full engagements

  • Ability to work independently with strong accountability and ownership

  • Strong stakeholder communication and relationship-management capability

  • Proficiency in audit tools (CaseWare, CCH, ProAudit, Inflow) and Microsoft Office
