GCO Partners is looking for a Financial Accountant to support a UK-based client across a portfolio of smaller entities, with a focus on accurate monthly reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, audit support, tax preparation, and compliance.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys producing reliable financial information, keeping reconciliations clean, supporting audit and tax processes, and helping ensure entities remain compliant and well controlled.

You will work closely with the finance team and play an important role in keeping monthly reporting accurate, timely, and useful.

What you'll be doing

In this role, you will support the finance team by:

• Preparing monthly management accounts
• Completing balance sheet reconciliations and following up on reconciling items
• Supporting month-end close activities
• Assisting with year-end audit preparation and audit queries
• Preparing sales tax returns and supporting related compliance work
• Assisting with corporation tax returns and supporting schedules
• Maintaining accurate accounting records across smaller entities
• Supporting statutory and internal reporting requirements
• Flagging issues, risks, or inconsistencies in financial information
• Working to agreed deadlines and communicating clearly with the wider finance team

What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who brings accuracy, ownership, and good judgement to their work. You should have:

• Experience in a financial accounting, management accounting, or similar finance role
• Strong experience preparing monthly management accounts
• Solid balance sheet reconciliation experience
• Exposure to year-end audit support
• Experience supporting tax or compliance processes
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with financial data
• Good attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
• Clear communication skills in a remote or international working environment
• A practical, hands-on approach to finance work

Strong preference for

• Experience supporting UK entities or international clients
• Exposure to sales tax, VAT, corporation tax, or similar tax compliance processes
• Experience working across multiple entities
• Accounting qualification or part-qualification such as CA(SA), SAIPA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent
• Experience in a lean finance team where responsibilities are broad and deadlines matter
