Role Overview

GCO Partners is partnering with a UK-based firm to appoint an experienced Senior Tax Consultant to support a UK tax portfolio from Johannesburg. This is a delivery-critical role requiring a minimum of 2–3 years UK tax experience (non-negotiable). The successful candidate will operate as a direct extension of the UK tax team, delivering compliance and preparation work with minimal supervision.

This is not a training role. Immediate contribution in a UK tax environment is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse UK tax portfolio, including individual and corporate clients

  • Prepare and review UK tax computations and returns to a high technical standard

  • Deliver end-to-end UK tax compliance and tax preparation services

  • Liaise directly with HMRC on submissions, enquiries, and correspondence

  • Ensure compliance with UK tax legislation, deadlines, and filing requirements

  • Work closely with UK-based managers and partners within a hybrid delivery model

  • Maintain strong client relationships and manage multiple priorities effectively

Minimum Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

  • 2–3 years proven UK tax experience

  • Hands-on experience working directly with HMRC

  • Strong background in UK tax compliance and preparation

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a multi-client tax portfolio

  • High level of technical accuracy and attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Johannesburg-based and available for hybrid work
