Audit Senior

UK Accounting Clients | Remote from South Africa

GCO Partners is seeking an experienced Audit Senior to support a respected UK accounting and advisory firm during a busy audit delivery period.

This is a short-term contract opportunity where you will work closely with UK engagement teams on live audit assignments while remaining based in South Africa. The role offers exposure to a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, mid-market companies, and international groups.

You will join a team of professionals delivering high-quality audit work for global clients, supported by GCOs engagement management and people teams.

Key Responsibilities

As an Audit Senior, you will support the delivery of audit engagements and contribute to the successful completion of statutory audits.

Responsibilities typically include:

• Leading sections of audit fieldwork for UK client engagements

• Preparing and reviewing audit working papers and documentation

• Assisting with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules

• Identifying audit risks and control weaknesses

• Supervising and guiding junior auditors where required

• Communicating audit findings to managers and engagement teams

• Ensuring compliance with relevant auditing and financial reporting standards

Requirements

We are looking for professionals who bring strong audit experience and the ability to operate effectively within international engagement teams.

Typical requirements include:

• CA(SA), ACA or ACCA qualified (or nearing completion)
• Minimum 3 years external audit experience in a professional services firm
• Experience working on statutory audits and financial reporting engagements
• Experience supervising or reviewing work performed by junior auditors
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines across multiple assignments
• Strong communication and collaboration skills

Experience with audit documentation software such as CaseWare or similar systems would be advantageous.
