Semi-Senior Audit Associate

3-Month Contract | UK Audit Exposure

Location: South Africa, remote through GCO Partners
Contract: 3 months
Level: Semi-Senior Audit Associate
Start: As soon as possible / to be confirmed

Build UK audit experience through a focused 3-month contract

GCO Partners is looking for a Semi-Senior Audit Associate to support a UK-based accounting, audit and advisory firm on a 3-month contract.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who has recently completed articles, or has around 3 to 4 years of audit experience, and wants practical exposure to UK audit work while working from South Africa.

You'll support a client-facing audit team across a varied portfolio that may include entrepreneurial businesses, owner-managed companies, professionals and private client structures. The work will involve real audit delivery, not background admin or please just format this spreadsheet until your will to live expires tasks.

What you'll be doing

You'll support the audit team across key stages of the audit process, including:

  • Assisting with audit planning and preparation
  • Performing audit fieldwork across assigned sections
  • Preparing clear, accurate working papers for review
  • Following up on information requests and outstanding items
  • Clearing review notes and applying feedback quickly
  • Supporting completion work where required
  • Communicating professionally with team members and, where appropriate, clients
  • Managing deadlines and priorities during a busy audit period

What we're looking for

You'll likely be a good fit if you have:

  • Completed SAICA articles, or are close to completion
  • Around 3 to 4 years of external audit experience
  • Experience in a small, medium or mid-tier audit firm environment
  • Strong working paper preparation skills
  • Exposure to audit planning, fieldwork and completion
  • Good understanding of audit methodology and professional standards
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive, reliable and detail-oriented working style
  • Confidence working remotely with an international team

UK audit experience would be a bonus, but it is not essential. Strong audit fundamentals, responsiveness and the ability to learn quickly will matter most.

You'll do well here if you are

  • Comfortable picking up work quickly
  • Able to ask sensible questions early
  • Structured and accurate in your documentation
  • Calm under deadlines
  • Open to feedback and quick to apply it
  • Interested in building UK audit exposure through GCO

Why this contract is worth considering

This is a focused 3-month opportunity to gain exposure to UK audit work while remaining based in South Africa. Through GCO, you'll work with an international client team while still having local support and guidance from our people-first team.

For the right person, this could be a valuable stepping stone into future global opportunities through GCO.
