GCO Partners is hiring an Accounts Receivable Accountant for a global client opportunity within an international finance function.

This role is suited to someone who can do more than basic invoicing and payment allocation. You should be comfortable owning customer accounts, managing collections professionally, working across currencies and entities, and communicating clearly with global stakeholders.

You will support a global business with finance operations across multiple regions. The finance environment is evolving, with current manual processes and planned system improvements in the future.

You will be embedded into the client's finance team and supported by GCO Partners throughout your placement.

What you'll be doing

• Manage accounts receivable activity across multiple entities and regions
• Raise and issue customer invoices accurately and on time
• Allocate customer receipts and maintain clean debtor accounts
• Reconcile customer accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Follow up on outstanding payments in a professional and commercially appropriate way
• Support credit control, aged debt review, and cash collection reporting
• Work with multiple currencies and international customer accounts
• Liaise with internal stakeholders on billing, payment, allocation, and query resolution
• Support month-end close activities, including AR reporting and reconciliations
• Assist with audit queries and finance documentation where required
• Help improve AR processes, controls, and reporting as the finance function develops

What we're looking for

• Solid accounts receivable experience in a finance operations or accounting environment
• Strong customer account reconciliation experience
• Experience with billing, receipting, allocations, and debtor management
• Good Excel skills, including reconciliations and clean data handling
• Comfortable working with manual processes and improving accuracy within them
• Clear, professional communication skills
• Ability to follow up on payments with confidence and tact
• Strong attention to detail, ownership, and follow-through
• Ability to work remotely with global stakeholders
• A relevant finance, accounting, or bookkeeping qualification would be advantageous

Strong advantages

• Experience in a global, multi-entity, or multi-currency business
• Exposure to EMEA, US, APAC, or LATAM finance operations
• Experience in SaaS, technology, learning, digital, or services businesses
• Sage Intacct exposure
• Experience supporting finance process improvements or system changes
• Understanding of month-end AR cut-off, deferred revenue, accrued income, or revenue-related reconciliations
• Experience working with subscription, project-based, or recurring revenue billing

Working model

This is a South Africa-based opportunity.

Johannesburg is preferred for initial onboarding and collaboration, with flexibility considered for exceptional candidates based elsewhere in South Africa.

The client operates remotely across global teams, but the South African finance team may collaborate more closely during the initial setup period.

This may initially be a 12-month opportunity, with possible longer-term potential depending on business needs and performance.
